Jessies Point of View
It's been a couple of days since the police found the body of the man that had been stabbed to death in his home and me waking up to the sound of a man's voice. I've been anxious ever since and the police still don't have any leads on the murder.
It's finally Friday and Buck and I were able to finish work early today.
"Hey Jess, how about we go out tonight and have a little fun?" Buck suggest happily.
"That sounds great. I could use a night on the town." I eagerly accept his suggestion.
"Great. I'll meet you at your house around six."
"Perfect, that gives me plenty of time to get ready." I give Buck a hug and quickly leave for home.
As soon as I get home, I grab some clean clothes and head straight for the shower. After my shower, I slip on some black skinny jeans, a black tank top, and a purple, blue and white plaid shirt. I leave the plaid shirt unbuttoned and roll up the sleeves just under my elbows. To complete the ensemble, I put on a nice black dress belt. I brush out my long wavy brown hair, letting it cascade down my back and spill over my shoulders. I do my makeup, keeping it as natural as possible, which I never wear at work. Lastly, I slip on my low-heeled black dress boots and zip them up.
Now ready for the evening ahead, I decide to read a book while I wait for Buck to arrive. I take one of my favorite books from the bookshelf, 'The Tales of Edgar Allan Poe'. Making myself comfortable on the sofa, I open the book to the classic tale, 'The Pit and the Pendulum', and begin reading. After a while, there's a soft knock on the door. I slip a bookmark into the book, close it, and set it down on the end table. Hurrying to the door, I peer through the peephole. Smiling, I unlock the door and open it.
"Hi, Buck." I chime happily. "Come in." He enters the house as I close the door behind him.
"Hey Jess, you about ready to go?" He asks as he throws an arm around my shoulders.
"Sure am." I reply, still smiling. "Just let me get my things." Buck stands there with his arm still around me, not seeming to move. "Um...Buck?" I look up at him. "You wanna let go?"
"Oh, sorry." He chuckles quietly, letting his arm drop to his side.
I take my phone and wallet putting them in my back pockets, then grab my keys. "Okay, I'm ready."
"Alright let's hit it, then." Chortling, he opens the door and leads the way out. I follow after him, locking the door behind us and stuffing the keys into my front pocket.
Since the town I live in is so small and the weather is nice, we decide to walk instead of drive. It's only a bit after 6:00pm, so our first stop is a little diner just inside the downtown area. We walk in and the hostess leads us to a booth next to a window. The waiter comes by with two glasses of water and takes our orders. As we sip on our water and wait for our orders to arrive, Buck suddenly breaks the silence.
"You look great, Jess. You clean up real nice." He looks at me and smirks.
"Gee thanks," I laugh. "You look good too, by the way."
He is wearing straight legged dark blue jeans, a black button up shirt with the first two buttons undone, a black leather belt and brown cowboy boots.
"Thanks. So, what's your plans for the weekend?" He asks me with a smile.
"Oh, just sleeping in, catching up on movies, reading...Not much really. How about you?"
