Jessie's Point of View

I wake up as the soft light of day filters in through the window. Rolling over, I find the other side of the bed empty. Crawling out of bed, I go to the bathroom. Then, I head into the living room. As I enter the room, the front door opens and Jeff steps into the house.

Jeff's Point of View

*Several hours earlier*

I wake up in the middle of the night. Lifting myself up slightly, I peer over Jessie at the clock on the nightstand. It's a few minutes after 1:00am. Jessie is sleeping peacefully next to me. Careful not to wake her, I slip quietly out of bed and head to the living room. I pull my boots on, and since the weather has finally turned cooler, I put on my white hoodie. I slide my knife into the pocket of my hoodie, then silently open the front door and leave. With resolved determination I start heading out of town. In about an hour I reach my destination. Finding an unlocked window to the ranch house, I slip inside. I find myself in a large living room, the décor is an old country style. Even though it's a single story, the house is huge. I start wandering the hallways peering into each room as I go. Finally, at the far end of the house, I find the room I'm looking for. I enter the room, quietly closing the door behind me. Taking my knife from my hoodie, I creep up to the side of the bed where a single figure is sleeping. Standing over the bed, I glare down with a scowl on my face.

'Why?! What's so special about this one?!' My arm moves on its own accord, and before I know it, my fingers are wrapped around his neck.

His eyes shoot open. "Gah...wha...!" He stares up at me as he struggles to breathe.

"If you know what's good for you, you'll keep quiet." I warn in a low, menacing voice as I loosen my grip on his neck.

"Wha-what the hell are you doing here?!" He says breathlessly as he gasps for air.

"Listen up, pretty boy! This will be your only warning." I proceed to tell him if he tells anyone about me or tries to turn me in, I will return and eliminate everyone he cares about, including Jessie. "Do I make myself clear?"

"Who the fuck do you think you are?!" He raises his voice at me.

"Tsk tsk tsk..." Pointing my knife in his face, I continue. "You shouldn't be so loud. Don't want to wake up mommy and daddy."

"You bastard! If you lay one finger on Jessie!" He's more restrained now, but I can still hear the rage in his voice.

"Listen here, pretty boy. Jessie's the only reason I haven't slit your throat. You'll leave her alone if you know what's good for you. She belongs to me, now."

"What the hell are you talking about?! She would never agree to be with someone like you!" Shock clearly shows on his face.

I smirk in return. "You'd be surprised. Besides, she doesn't have a choice."

"You won't get away with this!"

"I already have." I broaden my grin. As I start to straighten and withdraw my knife, I purposefully nick the side of his face with the tip of the blade.

"Augh!" He touches the side of his face, then looks at the blood on his fingers. "You dick!" He begins to push himself up, as if he wants to kick my ass.

Still pointing the knife at him, I shake my head. "Tsk tsk tsk...I wouldn't if I were you." I say in a cold, low voice.

He stops and lowers himself back onto the bed. With that I turn to the bedroom window and open it. Before I leave, I turn back in his direction. "Don't forget...Jessie's mine!" Then, I slip out of the window and into the dawn of a new day.
