Jessie's Point of View

Several hours have passed since Jeff left my room. I've slept off and on, but now, I'm going stir crazy. 'I can't lie here anymore! Fuck it! I'm getting up!' I throw the covers off and slide my legs over the edge of the bed as I sit up. Determined, I use the nightstand to slowly push myself up and onto my feet. I still feel incredibly weak but I'm able to keep my balance. I shuffle my way to the door and out into the hall. Jeff, who's sitting on the sofa watching TV, turns and notices me.

"What the fuck are you doing?!" He leaps up off the sofa and hurries to my side where I'm leaning heavily against the wall. "I told you to stay in bed!" He grabs me around the waist and starts to turn me toward the bedroom.

"Jeff! Stop! I don't want to lie down anymore. I feel like I'm losing my mind in there." I hope I can convince him. "Please, Jeff, let me at least sit in the living room. I don't want to be alone."

"Fine! I guess it can't be helped." He looks pissed, but he helps me to the living room, nonetheless.

As we're walking, I notice the living room is practically destroyed. There's a bookshelf on it's side, with books lying all over the place. There's also a shattered lamp on the floor and blood everywhere. Something else catches my attention and I realize that Jeff has cuts on his arms again and is limping heavily, favoring his left leg.

I'm shocked by everything and stop dead in my tracks, causing him to stop as well. "Jeff...What the hell happened here?!"

"Oh...um..." He hesitates and looks around the room. "Well, there was a bit of an incident while you were sick. And...um...well..." His voice falters as his words peter out.

"God damn it Jeff! Tell me! Tell me what happened! I mean look at this place! There's blood all over the room! You're covered in cuts again, and you're limping!" I don't know if I'm more pissed at the state of the room and the condition of Jeff's body or him not telling me anything.

"Drop it Jessie!" He growls, getting angry in return. "There are things you don't need to know! And as far as the room is concerned, I'll take care of it!" Without another word he starts walking again, forcing me to walk with him.

He sits me down on the sofa and sits next to me. This is the first time we've sat together since he has been here. I'm really uncomfortable with him being so close, especially since I'm still irritated by this whole situation. I sit there trying to ignore the fact and watch TV for a while. The news is on and the anchorman announces a special report.

' "Now, for our special report. Authorities are still looking for several people who went missing Halloween night. Two men and three women in their early twenties, one teenage boy, two teenage girls and seven young children. Last seen at the edge of town. There is no evidence of foul play or any clues to their whereabouts. If you have any information on this case, please call the sheriff's department immediately. Thank you. In other news..." '

"That fucking clown," Jeff grumbles under his breath. He gets up and goes into the bathroom.

Hearing that report reminded me of the encounter with Jack. Jeff said that he collected peoples souls. 'That could have been me.' I shudder thinking about it. Just then there's a knock on the front door. I get up, slowly make my way to the door and peer out the peephole.

'Oh no! It's Buck!' If I open the door things could get really bad. But if I dont, Buck will worry and never let it go. I make my decision and open the door.

"Buck, what are you doing here?" I ask in a quiet voice, standing in the doorway so he can't see inside.

"Jessie," he breathes my name. "I was worried about you."
