Jessie's Point of View
I wake up to the sound of the alarm clock. Monday has finally rolled around. I gladly get up and stretch. I think this is the first time I've ever been happy to see a Monday morning. I've spent the last two days trapped in the house with Jeff. I want nothing more than to leave. Grabbing my clothes, I go straight to the bathroom. I've been using the bathroom to change ever since Jeff invaded my house. It's the only room with a lock. After I'm dressed, I brush and braid my hair, then head to the kitchen. Jeff is already sitting at the kitchen table as if he's been waiting for me. I want to leave as soon as possible, so I make instant oatmeal for the both of us. I also get two cups of coffee ready. Sitting across from Jeff, I start eating.
"Hey," Jeff suddenly speaks up.
Startled at his sudden voice, I jerk my head up. "Y-Yes?"
"You're going to work, right?"
"Yeah..." I'm not really sure where he's going with this.
"You're taking me with you." He informs me coolly.
"What? But you said no one can know you're here." I protest, not wanting him with me.
"I'm not going to the ranch, you idiot. You'll drop me off beforehand." He reprimands me harshly.
"Drop you off, where?" 'What's he talking about?'
"That old, abandoned house across the street from the ranch."
"What? Why?"
"Stop asking so many fucking questions! Just do as you're told!" He growls angrily.
"O-Okay," I speak quietly, looking away from his angry gaze.
After eating, I finish getting ready for work. I grab my wallet, phone, and keys, then look over at Jeff. "You ready? I've got to get going."
"Yeah," grabbing his backpack, he walks out of the house.
I follow after him, closing and locking the door behind us. We both get into the jeep and I drive off towards the ranch. We sit in complete and uncomfortable silence the whole time. I stop in front of the old Fletcher House like he told me to. Jeff opens the door, then turns to me before getting out.
"Pick me up here when you finish work." He instructs me, then adds. "Don't even try to defy me. You'll regret it if you do."
Heeding his warning, I answer. "O-Okay." I don't argue, afraid of what he might do.
He gets out, walks across the street, and disappears into the house. I turn onto the gravel road of the ranch. Driving slowly down the road I think back to that day I thought I saw someone standing on the balcony of the old Fletcher house. 'That had to have been Jeff standing there. That has to be how he knows where I work and about Buck. And he could have gotten my age from my license in my wallet while I was asleep. But how the hell does he know about my parents and my sister?' Pulling up to the fence, I park the jeep and get out. I walk through the gate as Mr. Rogers comes out of the house.
"Good morning, Miss Bowyn." Mr. Rogers greets in his usual cheerful way.
His voice snaps me out of my thoughts. "Oh, good morning, Mr. Rogers." I greet back quietly. I just don't feel very upbeat today.
"Jessie, is anything wrong? You seem a little down." There's concern in his voice.
"Oh, it's nothing, I'm okay." I give the best smile I can muster. I have to do my best not to worry him or cause suspicion.
