There were no waves, no movement, nothing but a siberian, black, fog that lightly brims the surface with every sway of the paddle. And a foul creaking from the ferry's sore wood as it travels across the eternal pit of endless death. The quiet wails of lost souls travel up from the depths of the River Styx beneath Charon's smooth rowing. Putting Dean on edge with their discordant melody.
"So, what's our plan?" Sam mentions coyly, educated in exactly how this was suppose to end. Keeping hope he'll somehow manage to interfere with Castiel's crooked game. Knowing if they can get to the stone first, he can do just that.
"Once we get off this thing and make for the gate. We find Kai. Head to the castle, take the jewel, gank Ocula. And bring our pretty girl home."
"What if Ocula throws us a loop?" Sam mentions, watching Dean's face turn.
"How do you mean?" He leans his elbows on his knees.
"This is Kai's home, but it's Ocula's too. He knows every short cut, every backroad there is. He can probably change the entire structure of The Underworld if he gets to the stone."
"So, we kill him second-"
"Or, we find the stone and take it before Ocula can ever get his hands on it." Sam suggests on the sly.
"We'll get the stone after we get Kyiah."
"Dean-"
"Sam, I don't care what we've gotta do to get to her. But we're doing it first." Dean mandates.
Leaning back, his eyes carrying to Charon. "First things first, how're we suppose to get off this shipwreck?" He says under his breath. The ferry comes to a rickety halt, provoking them to react with an anxious response."Step down." Charon announces. Robotically extending a clothed arm. Sam steps out, giving an uncomfortable smile as the ferryman watches the Winchesters exit. Dean makes a stressed glance and quickly undocks back onto solid ground.
"Thanks for the ride, Emperor Palpatine." He humors. Charon rotates in silence, pushing the passenger boat off shore. Leaving them alone in the ruins. Dean turns to find Sam staring at the corrupt, towering, ebony gates. It's elevated, curved, build, blocks the view of the city, locking them outside. Making their way to the bottom of the incline. Just as they step near the gates, there was a low rumbling that shook the base of the terrain. When out of the darkness emerges a jumbo sized, black coated, three headed hellhound. It's muscular pitbull face and sharp clipped ears just as menacing as it's orange, dripping, mouths. "Ohhh, crap..." Dean mutters breathlessly. Watching as Cerberus makes its way out from the shadows, right before the Winchester's feet. Its three, buff, heads at different heights. Hanging in horrid degrees. The towering beast seats himself down, lowering it's middle head into its gigantic paws. Jingling the snapped metal chains around their necks. The remaining link, holding on by a thread. The beast exhales a breath that blows solid winds in the boys direction. The other heads foul mandarin eyes rip open, casting quiet spotlights above them.
"Speak your Surname." The furred guardian's deep voice bellows without moving a muzzle. Sam pressed his lips together before speaking.
"Winchester."
"Winchesters?" Cerberus shifts his canine face forward, his other heads drop around them, edging closer to give a multitude of sniffs. Their wet, rough, noses bumping into the mortal's shivering bodies. Dean keeps a firm hand of control, expecting to feel Cain's Mark make its unforgiving appearance. But there was still no activation. Which started to frighten him more than anticipated. Leaving him discomposed, powerless in The Underworld without his extra juice. "Well...to what do I owe the pleasure?" The chasmic empty voice inspects from the left most cranium. The bountiful cryptic eyes bathe them with focused beams. Sam remains as still as possible, swallowing nervously as the same head intently inspects him.
