Chapter 4

Your literally always early swift I cursed to myself, sitting in a private garden dining area which I had requested. Smoothing my dress down for the thousandth time I checked my phone, scrolling through my messages. A pair of slender fingers appeared over my eyes and I froze, "guess who" a warm voice teased and a smile completely overtook my features. "Karlie!!!!" I said, quickly getting up to face the tall brunette. Her eyes locked onto mine again, immediately loosing myself in their emerald depth. After what seemed like hours of staring at each other her body moved to embrace mine, squeezing against me, my head fitting perfectly into her shoulder. "I'm glad you wore heels, thank you for taking my giantess qualities into consideration" Karlie giggled into my hair. Pulling away from our warm embrace I looked up into her eyes once more, taking in her face and her signature smile that lit up the room. "Sunshine" I muttered, my eyes still on her smile, "what?" Karlie said with a unsure smirk on her face, "oh what nothing! Um so yeah this is all for us, I requested a private lunch garden for we could catch up in peace without a thousand mobile phones on us" I stammered. "It's perfect Taylor" she said warmly, we sat down, looking our way through the menu as we chatted away. "I missed you so much" Karlie admitted hesitantly for some reason, "aw I missed you too babe!" I said with my smile growing by the minute. I couldn't not smile around Karlie, she was 100% sunshine. After what seemed like hours of endless conversation, we decided on our food choices, calling the waiter over to our table. After ordering our meals and drinks our conversation fell back into its fluid motion, bantering back and forth, making new in jokes by the minute and switching to serious tones, discussing work and our lives. " I can't believe it's been nearly two months since the show, I feel like I've known you my whole life" I said to Karlie, trying to repress my forming blush. "Can I just say babe, God I'm glad lily introduced us, what would I do without you in my life?" Karlie giggled, not knowing how much that made my heart swell. "What would I do without sunshine angel lady?" I bantered back, earning the beautiful sound of karlies laugh jingling through the warm air. Our drinks arrived along with our food, conversation becoming slightly less constant as we ate. "Oh my god try this holy shit" Karlie said with half a mouth full of vegan cannelloni, holding a fork full out to me. "Omg that's so good, I didn't expect that vegan food would taste that good" i said with a giggle. "Oh swift you didn't go there, now I simply have no choice but to cook you dinner one night and show you my mad domestic goddess skills" Karlie replied with a wink, "I mean if you have no choice I guess that would be okay..." I teased. A phone buzzed against the wooden table as Karlie leaned forward to unlock it, "huh, well isn't that weirdly convenient" Karlie said with a strange smile on her face. "My shoot got cancelled back in New York, looks like I'll be here all week swift, your stuck with me" her signature grin coming back, eyes shining with excitement.
Karlie excused herself to the bathroom towards the end of our meal, her long legs seemingly never ending as I took in her full appearance. Tight grey dress with gladiator flats and a few very hipster golden accessories, her hair framing her face in cute little curls. My own phone buzzing on the table snapped me out of my thoughts, blushing like someone had caught me doing something wrong I leaned forward to check the message I had received. "Hey Hun what are you up to today? Hope your well, missing you!! -L x" Lilly's text made me smile, "I'm actually out to lunch with a certain Karlie kloss! Hope your well too! I miss you more, when are you in LA next missy?!?!- T x" I replied. Instantly my phone buzzed once more "aww aren't I the best match maker, you too seem awfully attached at the hip hehe" her simple reply sent my cheeks flaring red once more, sitting alone I wondered to myself why I was blushing so much today. Get it together swift dayum I told myself, as Karlie made her way back to the table, her lipstick refreshed and eyes as green as ever. God she's beautiful...um Taylor why are you being weird she's right there... She's your friend stop being weird my mind internally battled. "Um Taylor are you okay?" Karlie questioned hesitantly, "yeah yeah I'm good, your eyes are just so green, they're like a galaxy" oh good one swift, real subtle, excellent work. Expecting an awkward response karlies cheeks turned into a rosy pink, her smile perhaps now 110% sunshine.
As we made our way out of the restaurant slowly, plans began to be made for the following days. "Ooo and I need to take you to my favourite coffee shop, and shopping, and you need to come over to my damn house kloss jeez" I spoke fast, my excitement getting the better of me. "Well maybe I can offer my services to cook that meal I promised one night" Karlie said with a smile, " I would like that" I responded, feeling happier than I had in days. Our arms wrapped around each other one more, not wanting to let her go I tested my head in the crook of her shoulder, breathing in her musky rose scent. "I'll see you soon Taylor I promise", "I'm going to hold you to that kloss" I said with a smirk, getting into the black SUV.

"DAYUM I FEEL AMAZING, DAYUM IM IN THE MATRIX MY MIND IS LIVING ON CLOUD NINE AND THIS NINE IS NEVER ON VACATION" I half rapped half yelled, twirling around my kitchen as a poured myself a glass of wine, deciding what to have for dinner. The night air was warm tonight, breezing through my kitchen windows as I breathed it in deeply, everything seemed more beautiful today, I hadn't been this happy in so long. The rapping on my phone was cut off as it followed with vibrations against the granite cupboard. Walking over to see who was calling my stomach filled with butterflies when Karlies name flashed on the screen.
"Oh good evening miss sunshine" I said happily, hearing silence and then something I never wanted to hear from karlie, sobs.
"T..Taylor, I'm s..sorry to be c..alling, I'm sure your h..having dinner" her voice was pained, hurting my own heart. "Shhhh babe just breathe, it's okay, what's happening"
I wanted to make it all better. I wanted to heal this girl back to the sunshine I knew she was.
Taking a deep breath Karlie seemed more calm, before saying quietly
"My boyfriend of a year just broke up with me over a text" her voice cracking at the end. My mind reeled.
"C..can I come over?".
