[ Era 684 - X47]

[The Crescent War ~ Fort Meyer]

[Nikita's POV]

Today is the day. We have won the battle but with a cost. We lost Serena, killed in battle and now everything feels off.

*Knock knock* "Queen Nikita." I sigh and told whoever it was to enter. The door opens revealing Alex dressed in black.

"Armaros said it's time." I nod and took one last in the mirror. I was wearing a white, sleeveless, dress that flows down to the floor with a slit that reach mid thigh. Silver, tribal upper arm bracelet that had the Tree Of Life with a turquoise stone on it, with matching heels, and the royal crown made of purest diamonds, I was ready. Taking a deep breath I looked over to Alex who had a frown on his face. I walk to the sad boy and got down to his level.

"Hey there... What's wrong?" He was trying to hold a straight face but failed and started to shed tears. He didn't say anything and cried. I frowned I can't stand to see children upset so I held him in my arms. The sound of him crying was hurting my already damaged heart.

Slowly rubbing his back I told him everything was going to be alright. After a few minutes the crying died down and he was feeling better. I looked at him while gently wiping any tears off his face, I sigh and said.

"Everything will be okay Alex. It's over, there's no more fighting." He looks at me.

"Princess Serena... wasn't she your friend?" I didn't say anything, the flashback of her dying kept repeating in my head. Shaking the thoughts away I give him a weak smile.

"Yeah, she was. Serena was like a little sister to Aria and I, we always watch over her and helped her if needed. Come, let's go." I stood up only to feel small arms around my waist, looking down Alex held on to me tight. That moment I couldn't help but let the tears as the guilt began to eat me up knowing I couldn't save my friend and I fall to my knees as I hold on to Alex again. He didn't seem to mind, he just wanted to be the shoulder I cry on.

~At the Funeral~

"We are gathered here today to honor the life of the many brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives, the lives of the innocents lost in the battle. Also to honor and cherish the life of the dear princess of Rekina, Serena Elashor." The priest continues on while I stand holding a white rose with Damien on my left wearing an all black suit without the jacket and white tie and Armaros wearing black and dark purple suit on my right.

In Rekina whenever there's a funeral they seem to do a Viking burial ritual. All that remains of Serena was placed on a boat with some wood underneath her.

Glazing over to Aria, she was wearing a white one shoulder dress, with a gold belt around her waist; her hair was moved to the side complementing her soft features. She had small gold hoop earrings, matching gold cuff bracelets, gold heels and her gold crown that had had ruby gems stone around. She looked like a goddess from above; though she tried to keep a straight face she couldn't help but let the tears take over. Standing next to her was her advisor Titus who wore a dark red button down shirt with the sleeves cuffed up, black dress pants, with matching shoes and a black vest he held her in his arms.

Everyone around us wore black but I thought it would be best if Aria and I wore white to celebrate her life and all the times we've been friends. Looking ahead the sun started to set and the flashback started replaying in my head causing me to shed tears again. It wasn't until I felt a pair of strong arms pulling me to a broad shoulder and I didn't say anything. I knew who it was; with just a whiff I could smell a hint of vanilla.
