We all drank our coffee in silence. Robin texted furiously for five straight minutes. I glanced at her after she tossed her phone onto the table as if it were nothing. She held her cup of coffee in her hands, looking straight down, red as a tomato. Then, I glanced over to Bam who was playing Temple Run along with Steve-O; they laughed uproariously, not that it would bother anyone here anyways. Again, I glanced at Robin, who still sat there, her cup of coffee going cold in her small, warm hands. Her pink, chapped lips were starting to quiver. That's when I realized she had tears in her eyes. I nudged Robin's right arm lightly. She turned her head slowly, her dark brown hair covering her face. Immediately, I saw tears start to pour down her cheeks. I glanced over to Steve-O and Bam who were still laughing uproariously. "Let's go to the bathroom, Robin." I whispered quietly. Robin stood weakly, and used her chair for support. It was as if she was going to faint! I walked her over to the single bathroom in the small cafe. After locking the door behind me, she immediately started to burst into tears. "Katie! He b-broke up w-with me!" She sobbed incoherently.
"What happened?" I asked as calmly as possible. I thought she was going to have a heart-attack or something by the way she looked! Her knees wobbled, and she grasped my shoulder tightly to keep from falling, her hair was all over her face, and her lips were so dry, it looked like a pink desert on her lips!
"Chester b-broke up with me!" She sobbed even louder now. I offered her a hug, and she cried and cried and cried, her pain over-flowing with sadness, then a melancholy silence. Somehow, I still couldn't remember who Chester was, or why his name sounded so familiar, but what mattered now was Robin. This was my chance to know about her more.
"Just tell me from the beginning what happened."
"Okay," she took a deep breath in, then out, trying to calm herself, "It all started when I was living in Tennessee about four or five years ago. I just got back from a trip and I went on this chatting website. There was this guy named Chester and he seemed really interested in me, so we started to talk more, and then we started to video chat. I was surprised to see a guy that was good looking and wasn't like those scary molesters on the Internet."
Robin smiled softly, "Then, we decided to meet up somewhere, but he lived in California, and I lived in Tennessee. We were going to travel to a half-way point between Tennessee and California, so we decided we would meet at Amarillo in Texas. So we did." Fat tears rolled out of her eyes. Robin sobbed for what seemed like a long time, then held her composure after a few minutes.
"We met each other at a gas-station in Amarillo. We were actually supposed to meet at this restaurant, but we got caught in a hail-storm and instead he got me a chili hot-dog." Robin giggled, "It was a pretty good chili dog though. I knew that he was the one. He had that glowing smile, soft, tousled, brown hair, and dark brown eyes that would crinkle cutely whenever he laughed." I nodded my head several times while she was talking, interested in her story. "So, we hit it off right away. We just seemed to click," she sighed, "after the hail storm ended though, we stayed in separate motel rooms, and we spent our weekends at Amarillo a lot. We would talk about everything together. He was like my best-friend, kind of like my boyfriend. But after awhile, he seemed so distant." Robin's tear-stained cheeks seemed to frown slightly, "He was obsessed with them. It was scary."
"What do you mean he was obsessed? Who was he obsessed with?" I asked stiffly.
"One weekend, he said that Bam Margera and Ryan Dunn were going to be in Los Angeles for the weekend, so he asked me to go with him, and I guess it was kind of like another get-together. It was scary though because it was as if he was fan-girling over the Jackass show! He wouldn't stop going on and on and on after I got to the airport! He didn't even say hi to me or anything. As soon as he saw me, he greeted me with, 'Who's your favorite person on Jackass?' It hurt me so much. It's like he didn't even care about me. I missed him, but all he ever cared about was that show. When I went to his apartment, his whole entire room was filled with Jackass merchandise! Shoes, shirts, posters, bobble-heads. He even had Jackass bed-sheets! I was seriously freaked out so much." Her shoulders slumped, her lip quivered, and she whispered so softly, that no matter how close I would get to her, I still wouldn't be able to hear, "He hurt me..."
