It had become late in the evening when Diana had finally returned. She hadn't looked injured or tired from dealing with that man.
"I thought you would be asleep by now," Diana said as she removed her coat and placed it inside the closet along with her boots.
"Conscious kept me up for most of the night," Noah admitted before he asked. "Was he where you thought he might be? The white haired man, did you lose him by the Tower of London?"
"I did, there was an event happening and I lost him in the crowd." she paused when he didn't make a move. "What's wrong?"
Noah eyed her warily. "Do you know if that man you mentioned, Jonathan, did he meet me at some point?"
She looked at him with a questioning gaze. "What brought this on?"
"Conscious mentioned it to me," the expression Diana gave was that of annoyance, as if not wanting to know before sighing.
"You and Johnathan have met; in fact you met with him several times. At least, that's what I'm aware of, as to how I can't answer that. You'd have to find those answers for yourself. Now if you don't mind I'm heading to bed. You should have school uniform ready; I heard a rumor that school will be starting again."
"Diana?"
She paused by the bedroom door.
He offered her a smile. "I'm glad you came back safe."
"Thanks," and though she didn't look at him when she said it, Noah could have sworn that he saw the edges of a hinting smile.
The next day Diana had been right about returning to school, for in that morning she received a phone call that they could come to school around ten in the morning to start once more. Diana asked some questions about the incident in which she was given the response of: "Only the police would know the details of that."
In which Diana rolled her eyes in response before hanging up.
When reaching school a number of students were still talking about the incident with the janitor and why something like that would have happened in the first place. Some suspected a random incident like the police believed but other students thought that the poor guy was ganged up on by students that decided to mess with the guy for fun. Along with some other random theories as to what happened. During all that debate Noah overheard that the man who was attacked was going to be alright for the most part. He'd live. Only he'd be in the hospital for about a month or so to recover.
Hearing that alone gave Noah a sigh of relief.
"Noah!" James called out as he then wrapped an arm around his shoulders. "Sleep well?"
"As much as one person can with a crazed killer out to get you." he said dryly.
James laughed. "Well you seem to keep your dry humor through it all, that's probably one of the best things you can really have with dealing with someone who wants to kill you. By the way just to warn you there has been a rumor flying around that I thought I should tell you."
Noah frowned. "And that would be what?"
"Apparently, some students saw you heading out with Diana after school, and the rumor is that you guys have a relationship."
Noah scoffed. "A relationship my arse, they probably think I'm just having sex with her. Let them think whatever the hell they like. They won't really know what's going on and for all I know they wouldn't care, just interested in the latest gossip."
