When the taxi came to a halt Diana woke, as if a switch inside of her head went off. She glanced at the meter and pulled out more than the amount that was owed and handed it to the driver. "You can keep the change." She told him, the man and Mei both looked shocked at what she had given.
"Wait Miss are you sure?" he asked with a tone of hesitance.
Diana merely nodded and left with Mei following her only to grab Diana and pulled her to a stop. "Are you insane?" she demanded. "You gave that man way more then what was owed."
"So?"
"So?" Mei repeated. "You're going to put a target on your back if you keep handing out large amounts of money like that!"
Diana merely kept staring at her as if waiting Mei to get to the point of her argument, when she said nothing more Diana spoke as she began to walk on. "It's not like do that all the time, and with how parts of the market keeps crashing there are folks who need that money more than most. Though thankfully it's not so bad right now but you never know when another huge market crash might happen, and those at the bottom tend to be hit the hardest with people jumping out windows left and right."
Mei followed, was she talking about that big market crash? "That was almost a hundred years ago."
Diana frowned in response as if she was surprised at this. "Really? Huh, doesn't really feel like that..." she then shook her head. "Regardless it's my choice in what I do with my money. I can help people if I wish even if it's not that great, besides, you're not my mother so save that kind of talk if you decide to have kids of your own."
Mei glared at her. "And what about yours?" she said when Diana began to walk away only to cause her to stop once more. "I'm sure if I talked to them they'd love to know what you're doing with their money." Mei didn't mean to sound as harsh as she had, but she knew that generosity could always come back to bite the person in ways they hadn't imagined, but in truth she just couldn't stand kids who spent their parents money as if they were entitled to do whatever they wanted.
But instead of getting an angry response Diana merely scoffed. "Good luck with that." and then merely kept on going.
What the hell is with this kid? Mei thought as she continued to follow the girl. She doesn't even act like a normal teen, just who is she really?
They walked into a large office building, passing a number of people who spoke in a variety of languages, it was normal to hear English and French but the other ones that were spoken Mei couldn't place.
Looking to the building's name it read Fènghuáng Corporation. It was a name Mei had heard several times before, both in the news and online, several things involving the stock market and a number of different charities across the globe and assisting against the war effort and terrorists. The group worked in both law and the stock market and other small business helping them grow big, Mei did recall that there were a number of branches in other parts around the world. It was definitely impressive to see but she never thought that she'd be in one of the buildings or even that Diana was affiliated with the company.
The woman at the front desk, who was Caucasian with dark blonde highlights in her brown hair that seemed to offset her dark brown eyes, the woman saw Diana and spoke in English. "Oh hello miss, do you have an appointment with someone today?"
Diana merely took a card from her inner coat pocket and handed it to the woman, the woman looked at the card and her eyes went wide before she looked back to Diana with slight surprise. Almost as if Diana handed the woman a code to a nuclear bomb.
