her hair was blue the next time he saw her.
it was on one of his days off. he and some friends had decided to head over to the coffee shop where he worked.
it was she who noticed him first. they hadn't reached the entrance yet when she called for his attention. "hey you!" she yelled.
wonwoo turned his head to the direction of the voice and was surprised to see her familiar face. he noticed that she changed her brightly colored to a darker shade of blue. she sat in the area outside, iced-coffee set at the table in front of her. and she was smoking a cigarette. she turned her attention away from him again, bringing it to the book she had in the hand that wasn't holding the cigarette.
"isn't she the noona from before?" mingyu wondered aloud and wonwoo just nodded in response.
"you look like you want to talk to her," jisoo muttered to wonwoo. "go. we'll head inside already."
wonwoo didn't say anything as his friends gathered inside the little shop. when they were all inside, he walked over to her.
she looked up from her book when he was near, as if she had sensed his presence. "why did you come over?" she asked, confused. "weren't you with your friends?"
"i was. they're waiting inside," he replied. she nodded, setting her book down on the table, and gestured for him to sit down. he did.
"i'm gaeul, by the way," she introduced, holding out her empty hand. wonwoo shook it as he introduced himself.
"wonwoo," she mumbled, as if testing the way it would sound when she said it. "don't they say if you meet thrice, then it's fate?" she took a sip of her drink then set it down on the table.
he frowned. "who is they?"
she shrugged, taking a drag of her cigarette. wonwoo scrunched his nose, putting a hand up as if to block the smoke as she breathed out. she noticed his actions. "are you uncomfortable?"
he didn't want to offend her, but he didn't want to lie either. "i'm just caught off guard. i didn't know you smoke," muttered.
she chuckled as if she found him amusing. "we've only just met. officially, at least," she said. "and i don't always. just, you know, on occasions."
"and what occasions would that be?"
her eyes lit up with a mischievous spark and a small smirk appeared on her lips. "if what they say is true, then you might just find out."
before he could utter a reply, she was out of her seat, crushing the cigarette under her shoe to put out the embers. she had her drink in her hand as she walked off, only looking back to mutter a "see you around," to the confused wonwoo.
it took him a while to come to, but that was because jihoon had come out and called his name. and even before he had gone inside the coffee shop, he had looked back at the spot where he had seen her walk off to.
if she was right, that they would meet again, he would be prepared.
