sweat dripped down his forehead and he could feel his muscles cry out for rest. finally, the music ended and seungcheol announced a break from their practice. some cheered happily as they went to sit down. mingyu and wonwoo sat against the wall, their legs stretched out in front of them.

"i saw you with that noona at the coffee shop the other day," mingyu mentioned to wonwoo.

"what noona? the one at the shop the other day when we all went together?" seungkwan muttered, joining the two. "she's pretty. how did you meet?" it was as if everyone heard them talking  and wanted to listen in on the conversation as they all gathered around. wonwoo silently cursed at mingyu for bringing up the topic.

"she goes to there sometimes, but i see her around outside the shop so we recognized each other," he explained.

mingyu raised an eyebrow. "so are you two dating?" he smiled cheekily. "you can tell us. we won't tell anyone else."

"what? why would you think that?" wonwoo's eyes were wide as he was taken aback by the absurd thought. "i don't even know if we're friends." as he said it, it made him think. were they friends?

maybe. but the girl in question might have had a better answer to that. she was the one in control of their relationship--whatever it was.

"why are you all crowding around me?" wonwoo asked. "i'm sure you guys also have some interesting things to share."

"nope. i think you're the winner here, chingu," soonyoung muttered. "you're the only one here with a girlfriend."

"i already said that she's not my girlfriend." he shook his head. "and i'm sure you guys also have someone you like." he almost cursed himself for saying that. did he really like gaeul that way? no one seemed to realize what he had said.

"well, there is this girl i met in school the other day," someone muttered and suddenly the others' attention was on him. wonwoo was grateful for the shift in subject. as much as he would like to tell someone about ga eul, he didn't want the spotlight on him either.

so while the others talked, he listened in. or at least, he tried to listen in. truth was, his mind had drifted off to the thought of her. it was their fault, mingyu's mostly. he was the one to bring up the topic of her. wonwoo didn't mind. he still had some questions about her that he wanted answered. he was still curious about her.

gaeul. autumn. the period between summer and winter, when the warm season cooled into the cold season. the leaves change color and fall to the ground. sometimes she was closer to the summer weather, but sometimes she was winter. he never knew which gaeul he would run into next. while some things remained a constant, she had so many colors to her that he couldn't be sure.

"guys, break's over," seungcheol announced and the others groaned as they got up. they got into position, the music played, and they rehearsed the choreography to the song. it was maybe one of the moments when ga eul couldn't invade his mind.
