DINA'S P.O.V
"Yes so you're gonna hold the first 40 minutes til the second band arrived. They should be at the park 10 minutes before you done."
"Sure. I can do."
"Perfect. Can I call you sometime later for confirmation and tickets selling?"
"I'd wait for that. Thanks guys."
"Thank you!"
And it's settled. I would play Krida Loka park on November 28th.
Welcome to Jakarta, again. My plane has just landed and I got a phone call already even before I could find my gigantic suitcases. This London-Jakarta trip wasn't that easy though. I left on Tuesday, UK time, and it's already Thursday here in Indonesia. Pretty much missed the Wednesday on the calendar. I didn't know what's been happening on the solid land, but hi, I'm Dina.
Mom and Dad promised to pick me up but unfortunately, again, they had to cancel it. Not easy to run a family business but I've been loosing up the hopes even before I booked my flight here, so all's well with the world.
That call I just received, by the way, was from the promoter representative who's currently in planning to make their first annual fest, sometime in November. They said it's gonna be on the 28th, but I'd be getting further confirmation. They asked me to play the opening act. Pretty cool. I haven't planned anything on that Saturday so I agreed.
"Hi... Uhm... Are you Dina Filan?" A pretty girl, much yonger than me, made a stop in front of me and shyly asked.
"Yes darling I am. And who's this girl's name I own a pleasure to talk to?" I pinched her cheek.
"My name is Caroline!" She gave a hand for me.
"Hello Caroline! Sweet name, I like it." I hugged her instead.
"I love watching your videos on YouTube. I like your voice so much! Can I have a picture with you please?" She begged with those eyes full of hope.
I chuckled, wrapped her shoulders, took the phone, and gave myself couple of selfies and some more shots with her. She looked so happy. Didn't expect these people here in Indonesia acknowledged me. I started it off in London, as a too random singer, mostly singing in my room with that little microphone and laptop to record myself. But 21st generation it is. YouTube was the all credit sent to. I started gaining people's attention about 9 months ago. And it's been pretty cool since.
"Thank you so much! I just landed from Surabaya with my parents! Thanks for stopping! Terima kasih!"
Terima kasih is 'thank you' in Indonesian language.
"No, cupcake, terima kasih." I hugged her tightly and replied with that phrase I haven't said for so long. Damn, just realized how lame I've been already with my own language.
I took a way out and immediately waved to the cab's dispatcher. They helped me with my cases as I hopped into the back seat. Headphones on, world off. I've never seen my city, my country, for almost 3 years now. The weather was different than London, obviously. But I liked it here.
It's home.
"Mooom?"
"Dina! Oh my cupcake, you're here!"
I heard her rushy footsteps walking downstairs. Chuckle. She's always that excited.
"Hi hello." I smirked.
"Oh my gosh baby girl you're so beautiful. Look at you..." She kissed my both cheeks.
"Thank you Mommy." I put the bag on the couch. "Where's Dad?"
"Shower. He's about to done. Come here, I've cooked you something right away. Hungry, right?" Mom busy prepared the plates.
"More likely tired of plane's food." I rolled my eyes.
"My pretty little one!" Dad shocked me from behind.
"Daddy! I've missed you!" I turned around to give him full access of bear hug.
"Wait. Are you losing some pounds?"
"Just to make it look healthier." I smiled. "Oh c'mon I want to eat!"
It was a day full of laughter, and stories, and happy tears, and 3 years of missing time we've had, we collected it all. This home wasn't the big one. But I swear it's the best safest place I'd rather be than in my pretty condo back in downtown London. Because here, I got family.
Welcome to my life.
