DINA'S P.O.V
"Beautiful city." Connor mumbled from his seat.
"With such a strong traffic game? Yeah I believe so." I chuckled. "Note the sarcasm please, thank you."
"Haha. That is another problem. But no I'm serious Jakarta is beautiful."
"Well, as a local, thank you."
I drove my car to the north. It's the beach. We had port which actually could lead you to small islands in an hour trip. But it's late night. Cruises have stopped operating. If they had time tomorrow before leaving, I'd consider to take them all here again.
But tonight, there was only Connor.
And you have no idea how breathless I was because fast heartbeat.
However, the city tour must go on. I have promised him, or practically them, that I'd show coolest places in town where they couldn't find in anywhere else.
"Let's have a walk. This is the place." I parked.
"It's beautiful." Connor put his jacket on. "You have one?"
"Yeah, a cardigan." I grabbed mine also.
We walked along the beach side with our shoes off. I've spoken to the port security that we would be enjoying the view til the latest time they could give us.
"Thank you, Dina."
"Hmm?"
"For whatever you've done today to us."
"It's okay. No problem. Helping a friend."
"Is Steve a friend? How did you guys know each other?"
Connor sat by the beach where the sea water could splash around us with this soft calming wind being the company. I let out a deep breath and sat next to him.
"He called me right when I landed from London."
"Oh cool. Like an old friend?"
"No actually. He called on behalf of the fest."
He stared at me in deep confusion. "Fest, you mean this fest?"
I smiled, knowing Connor didn't acknowledge anything I have done on my YouTube channel. But it's okay though. It's cool to remain calm about that.
"He asks me to meet him and probably help with anything I can."
"Volunteering?"
Chuckled again. "Yeah, long story short."
"Can I ask you something?" Connor finally broke the silence after one minute.
"Yeah."
"Can I do this?"
He held my hand and intertwined it. There was a little doubt in his eyes wondering whether or not it was okay to me. I gasped, almost cried. This guy broke every rule I set for myself. Those rules were, first, I didn't plan on letting myself have crush on anybody soon, and second, I eliminated possibility of band member existence because they would just come and go from your life in a blink of an eye.
Damn, I broke both rules.
"You didn't answer." He played with my fingers.
"You would be just as good as gone before I knew it anyway." I whispered. "We're not supposed to do this."
"But what if I'm staying?"
"You can't. There's a flight tomorrow you wouldn't miss for the world."
"But what if I'm eager to make it happen, with you, for you?"
"Connor..." I stuttered.
"Do you believe me? Can you?"
"God's sake, we just met some random hours ago..."
"I don't wait too long to tell." He smiled. "You said so, I have a flight tomorrow I wouldn't want to miss."
He stroked my hair softly as I released deep sigh and little desperation moan out of my mouth. If only he let me take care of myself to not falling for him by now. I didn't want to feel something I shouldn't feel, when I knew it wouldn't take me anywhere, anyway.
"Sky is so beautiful tonight." Connor laid down on the sand, face up to the dark sky above us.
"Dramatic." I murmured.
"I am." He stared at me. "You don't like it?"
"Look, Con..."
"I don't want to listen any of those words you try to say to me. Dina, it's not about how long time we need to be assured. As if we need that. You see, it's about me using my very short moment to let you know everything I feel inside, since first second I landed my eyes on you, before it's too late."
"And then what?" I half-screamed. Now I was desperated.
"Then we're trying, if you'd like."
"I'm afraid you'd just waste your time. You'll be thousands of miles away from me and no guarantee you'd be back next year. So then tell me, Con, what's the point?"
"Do you even like me?"
He cut my words just like that. Heart's torn to pieces. Confused. Face down. Teary eyed.
God, I didn't have the answer.
"Let's go back to the hotel." He rubbed my back in lowkey disappointment.
"Okay." I followed his steps back to the parking lot.
The rest of time we were having together in the car was a horror. We shared deep sigh, unspoken feelings, bit nails, frustration. Tomorrow Steve would drive these guys back to the airport and they'd leave back to the U.S. maybe even before my morning hour. So yes, the question would be, what's the point? What's the real thing here to let yourself fall for somebody that fast, that beautiful, and would be that hurtful in a matter of minutes also?
"I'm not gonna stop, though I think you need to know." He whispered in the car as we arrived at the lobby.
"Connor, I appreciate that. But I'm not ready for it. You're amazing. But it's not meant to be..."
"Maybe you should consider to stop playing 'oh I can predict the future' kind of game." Connor softly placed his right hand on my left cheek. "Because babe, you know nothing."
I blinked off an emotional tear from my eyes. I hate uncertainty. He made me think of how hard it's gonna be tomorrow, when we'd have to say goodbye to each other. I was only falling for his pair of amazing blue eyes. Didn't expect it would go this far.
"Good night."
Connor placed his thumbs on my eyelids, asked me to close my eyes. And something soft, warm, and deary touched my lips.
He kissed me.
"Don't blame yourself." He pecked me once again. "I think I love you."
As soon as he made me the most dysfunctional human on earth, he hopped out, happily approached the lobby, said hi to bunch of fans and workers in there, turned around to wink at me, and disappeared as the elevator door was closed before him. Now it's only me, who's dying almost couldn't function to drive my own self back home.
It sucks. I think I love you too.
