CONNOR'S P.O.V
Oh it's Friday. Good afternoon.
And we're landed!
Jakarta was dang hot. It's different with Florida. It's hot like Manila but we adjust it well because experience. All of us immediately set all the suitcases at the airport as James called Steve telling him we're waiting.
"He's right outside that door." James pointed to the exit sign.
"Cool. We're good?" I asked no one in particular.
"My bass case." Ryan replied. "Oops. No worries. There she is."
"Shall we?" James helped with two guitar cases.
"Before You Exiiiit!" Some girls screamed from our left way as we approached the door.
We had to make a stop. There were almost 30 girls at the airport expecting some pictures with us. So Anthony and James decided to find Steve and put the baggages in the car first. It was amazing. Knowing you flew thousands of miles away to a place we've never been to before, and people could still recognize you.
"Thank you girls! See you at the fest tomorrow!" I waved away. Sad, but we had to.
"Connor! I love you!" A girl screamed right in my face.
"I love you too." I grinned. "Am I seeing you tomorrow?"
"Yes! We've gotten our tickets!" They screamed excitedly.
"Awesome. This conversation remains to be continued." I poked Toby's elbow and he noticed.
"Bye guys!" Riley also waved away.
"Follow me back guys! Been waiting for years!" The girls seemed so hard to let us go.
I turned around and winked. They went crazy, screaming and panting. Felt sad we had to leave them like that while they have been waiting for us for hours. But schedule was schedule. Steve expected us all to arrive at the hotel before evening. He said traffic was bad along the way. Let's rest in the car.
"How are you guys holding up from long flight?" Steve chuckled.
"Pretty good. Ryan's still insane. So we're good." Riley replied and tickled Ryan.
"And I'm still hungry so we're pretty good too." Toby yawned.
"Haha. Okay alright. I have called the hotel to prepare you some well-deserved food. We're almost there. Hold on." Steve speed up the car.
"Better be hurry because I'm dying." Toby murmured.
I tapped Steve's shoulder and chuckled. "Don't worry. By dying he usually means sleepy."
We finally arrived at this big hotel. They took care of us very well. Steve asked the receptionist and door man to help us with the baggages til we approached each rooms. I shared mine with Riley. Steve left us for couple hours to have lunch, quick nap, and shower before he showed us tomorrow's venue.
Fast forward to 7 PM. It's already dark in Jakarta. Steve drove us all to the park where the fest would be held.
"So yeah. There you go. This is the stage, and you guys can do soundcheck or whatever you need, for about..." He checked his watch. "An hour."
"Cool. We need less than that." James pointed his finger. "Let's move, kids!"
By that command, Ryan and I were busy preparing our kits. Riley spoke to the sound guy about the microphone, about how we usually handled it. Toby helped Anthony with some merch too.
I was peacefully strumming my guitar to an empty space in front of me, pretending to sing and basically self-talking to project tomorrow's crowd, til my eyes landed on a silhouette.
Of a girl in a dress.
Couldn't move my eyes off from her. It was too dark by the side where she was standing, but I got clear enough sight to tell she was talking with Steve.
"Thanks, Na!" I heard an echo. Saw Steve waving away. And he approached me again. "Hey you. All is good?"
"Yeah yeah. Pretty much awesome with the prep. You yourself? Good?"
"Uhm... I kinda lost a person or two in such a crucial hours but thankfully I got substitute too."
"Lost some workers, you mean?" I gasped. "Man, that's bad."
"Sounds like so. Jeez I should've kept this from you guys. Sorry. I wasn't meant to..."
"It's okay." I shook my head. "Is she one of substitutes?"
"Who?" Steve led his eyes towards the point I was making with my finger. "Oh! Right. Yes and no, actually, because she's a friend, but gladly willing to help."
"Cool." I awkwardly grinned.
"Haha. Bro, I know."
"Know what?"
I hid my blushy cheek by strumming the guitar crazily and sang random songs, poked my nose even when it's ridiculously unnecessary. Damn. The stiff Connor's back.
"She's pretty." Steve threw his sight at that perfect silhouette. "And pretty awesome too."
"Pretty awesome." I echoed.
"Hmm. I'll let you two meet sometime tomorrow."
"She's going to be around?" I sounded...uh, too excited. Too over-excited.
"Personal photographer." Steve smirked. "Hey, catch up with you again in a sec, okay? I got some passes to take care of."
"Sure thing. Take your time."
I saw Steve walking toward her. Not even a blink away I would miss that moment. Heart's beating faster. This was ridiculous to tell what I felt, but I was more likely curious of this girl. I might haven't known how she looked like, yet.
But even her silhouette was beautiful.
