The next morning Liv woke up, she felt an arm around her, "Fuck!" she mumbled. She slowly turned around and saw Elliot "No no no!" she quickly got up and grabbed her robe. Elliot stirred in his sleep, he opened his eyes and looked at Liv "Morning" he smiled.
Liv looked at him "What happened last night never happened." "What? Liv you expect me to forget all that happened?" "Yes, yes I do." "Well guess what i'm not. Last night when I told you I loved you, I mean't. But you know what it's fine if you didn't." He got up and started putting his clothes back on, Liv knew he was pissed, but she also knew he was even more heartbroken.
She stood there not being able to move, "I-I'm sorry." She whispered. "Forget it Liv, you want this night to never have happened well it didn't." He leaves before she could see the tears stream down his face, he finally had told her and she didn't want it, she didn't want to be with him. He sighed, today was his day with Eli, maybe that would take his mind off of it.
Liv was left in her room alone. She sighed, she ruined it. She lost him. She sat on her bed and cried, why was she so stupid! She loved him and he loved her back! But she let her insecurities get in the way. She needed to fix this, she couldn't lose him. She decided to get ready and go over, she was going to make this right.
Elliot had walked home, his head down while the tears streamed down. He finally got home and got ready for Eli to come over. Kathy had texted him last night telling him she'd bring Eli over at noon. It was 11, he had time to clean himself up, and tidy up the house.
Liv had gotten out the shower and dressed, she looked at the clock 11:30. "I'll stop by the precinct, grab some files. Then go to Elliot's." She said out loud to herself. She got in her car and drove to the precinct, no one was there. She sighed and grabbed the files off her desk. She walked out and drove to Elliot's.
Elliot was just finishing up tidying the house when there was a knock, "Coming!" he yelled. He opened the door and was greeted by Eli hugging his legs "Daddy!" Elliot smiled "Hey buddy." Kathy looked at Elliot "Can we..uh talk?" "Sure Kath. Buddy how about you go play in your room while I talk to mommy." "Okay!" he kissed Kathy and hugged her "Love you mommy" he smiled and ran to his room.
Elliot and Kathy stood there. "What do you need to talk about Kath?" "El..I miss us. Can we please get back together." Elliot sighed. "We talked about this, we can't keep trying to mend a broken relationship. Face it Kathy our marriage ended a long time ago. There is nothing between us." She sighed, "It's because of her isn't it." "Kathy don't bring her into this, if she wasn't here we probably would have ended our marriage a long time ago. She was the only one who tried to keep our marriage together. So don't you dare bring her into it." Kathy sighed "I'm sorry." "It's fine. But we aren't getting back together."
Liv was walking into Elliot's apartment building, she decided to bring a bottle of wine, she knew if they were going to have this conversation that it would be much needed. She heard voices and she saw Kathy and Elliot talking, she decided to not disturb them and just wait til they were done talking. She stood there looking, she turned away for a minute and then looked back and they were kissing!
Her body turned numb, she had accidentally let go of the bottle, making it drop to the floor crashing to the ground drawing attention to her. They had looked at her, she looked at them "I..I uh I'm sorry. I should get going." She turned around and ran out of the building. She should have known it was too good to be true, Elliot didn't love her, he loved Kathy. He always would, he always would go back to her.
Elliot stood there, "I have to go get her!" He quickly ran after her, he found her outside his building leaning up against the brick wall. He went over to her "Liv, let me explain." I go near her. She puts her hand up distancing us.
"No, I don't need an explanation. I should have known it was too good to be true. You don't love me Elliot. You were drunk, you love Kathy. Not me." "Liv, I don-" "Save it Elliot. It's fine. Nothing ever happened between us." Liv walked to her car and got in. Elliot went to the window "Liv, please! Just listen!" "No Elliot." Liv drove off.
He stood there, he lost her. He truly lost her. He walked back into his building, heartbroken once again for the second time today. He got to his apartment, "Kathy leave." She sighed "Whatever." she left. Elliot sat on his couch, his head in his hands. He just wanted to punch something, get the pain out. But there was no use, he sat there for what felt like forever.
Eli came out "Daddy? What's wrong?" Eli ran to him. Elliot looked at him "Nothing buddy, how about we do something fun today." "Yay!" Eli jumped up putting his fist in the air. Elliot smiled, one of the things that could cheer him up were his kids.
Liv had driven home, she sat down with a bottle of wine, and her files. She did what she did best, work. She pushed the thought of Elliot far in the back of her mind. She didn't need to think about it, of course she was heartbroken herself, but she couldn't let herself think about it. She needed to distract herself, what better way than files.
She sighed. She went to take a sip of her wine, before she drank it the smell hit her, making her nauseous. She quickly put it down, "No wine for me I guess." she muttered. She grabbed a water and went back to working. The rest of the night was spent working, and having a break here and there.
Maybe this is what her life would always be like. Single, married to the job. nothing else. Just her. Alone.
