Chapter 20: Cheater?

They had arrived at the doctors appointment on time, the ride car filled with silence except for Eli's blabber here and there. At one point Elliot had tried to hold her hand but she pulled away and kept her hands in her lap.

She didn't look at him, she knew if she looked her eyes would show hurt and anger. She didn't talk to him, if he asked her a question she would either nod or give one word answers. She stared out the window the whole ride. Eli noticed the silence between his dad and step mom.

He reached out and touched Liv's shoulder "Mommy hold my hand." He held his hand out. She smiled and held his hand, he gave it a light kiss. "Don't be mad at daddy." He whispered. "Baby it's a little bit more difficult then that, how about after the doctors appointment we can go out to lunch and to the toy store?" "Otay!" He smiled.

The whole ride was silent, once they had arrived Liv had gotten out of the car ignoring Elliot still. Every attempt Elliot had tried to make she ignored, if he tried to touch her she would move away. Eventually he had given up. They were sitting in the room waiting for the doctor to start, Eli was talking to Liv's stomach, she smiled watching him.

She would glance over at Elliot, he had been on his phone the whole time, she sighed. She couldn't help the one tear that made its way down her cheek, she quickly wiped it and the doctor came in.

The appointment had gone well, the baby was perfectly healthy. They had gotten sonogram pictures one for each of their friends, Liv had texted Alex and Fin to meet up for lunch. The doctor had written the gender and placed it in an envelope. Liv had carefully placed it in her purse with the sonogram pictures.

Eli had begged Liv to go for pizza, so of course she agreed. They got to the restaurant, still silence between her and Elliot. She sat next to Elliot, he leaned over and gave her a quick kiss, she had made no effort in kissing back, she sat there.

Elliot sighed, he didn't know what he did. He had kissed her and there was nothing. No spark or anything. He sat quietly, his eyes fixed on his glass. Alex and Fin walked in, they could immediately feel the tension in the air. Alex looked over at Fin, silently communicating they knew what they had to do.

Alex went over to Liv "Hey pregnant lady! How's my little niece or nephew doing?" Liv smiled "Your little niece or nephew is perfectly healthy." Liv searched through her purse finding the sonogram picture and envelope. She gave a picture to both Fin and Alex. She handed Alex the envelope. Alex smiled "Baby Benson Stabler!" She looked at the picture.

Liv smiled "Don't open the envelope yet." Alex nodded with a big grin. "How about us girls go and shop a little." Liv looked towards Elliot, he nodded. "I guess." Liv smiled. She got up, Eli looked at her "Mommy where you going?" "I'm gonna shop a little with Auntie Alex, you stay with daddy and Uncle Fin." "Otay!" He puckered his lips for her to kiss.

She smiled and kissed him "Be good baby." "I will mommy!" He went back to coloring. Liv smiled, she didn't look at Elliot or say anything before she left. They had walked into a little store walking around. "Liv what's wrong between you and Elliot?" Liv looked at her "It's that obvious isn't it?" Alex laughed "Yeah, so what's wrong?"

Liv sighed "I think he's cheating on me." Alex laughed, Liv looked at her "This is not funny Alex!" Alex smiled "Yes it is! Liv he's not cheating on you, of all the years I know Stabler I know he wouldn't cheat on you, or anyone." Liv sighed.

"But he's been secretive and on his phone all the time. I called for him this morning while he was on the phone and he literally jumped to turn it off!" "Liv he's probably just doing some surprise for you or something. He loves you too much to cheat on you. Just talk about it with him." Liv sighed "Your right I should talk to him."

Alex laughed "I'm always right." Liv rolled her eyes and smiled. "Come on let's go back now." They left the store and went back to the restaurant. After the talk with Alex, Liv knew she had to be crazy. They walked back into the restaurant "Mommy!" Eli jumped up and ran to her.

Liv bent down and opened her arms, he jumped in her arms. "I missed you mommy." "I missed you too baby, did you eat?" "No, daddy say wait for you." "Oh, okay let's go sit down and we can eat." He smiled and ran back to the table. Liv smiled "Alex you are more than welcome to join us." Alex smiled "I might just take you up on that offer." They sat down, Liv sat next to Elliot.

He hesitantly went to hold her hand, he was close til he pulled back. Liv noticed, she gently held his hand, he smiled. She smiled, they sat around the table eating and talking.

They made it home, Liv had changed and settled into bed while Elliot put Eli to bed. She knew she had to talk to him now, she sat up in bed thinking of ways to approach him, after many failed attempts at ideas she gave up. She would just simply ask him.

She waited til he came in, she sat up against the headboard waiting for him, he walked in. "We need to talk." "About?" he asked confused. "Elliot...are you cheating on me?" "Liv..."
