Liv stood in her bathroom looking at all three test. Positive. She felt a bunch of emotions, she was happy, scared, worried. She was finally getting the one thing she ever wanted, but would she be able to take care of a baby with her schedule, would she be able to do it herself? Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock. She took the tests and threw them away, she grabbed her money and opened the door.
Elliot had sat in the same spot for over an hour, the whiskey bottle getting emptier with each sip. He was half way through the bottle when he looked at it and put it on the table. Realization hitting him, why was he doing this? Why was he becoming a drunk? He knew he needed to stop, he couldn't let Eli see him like this. Worse he was turning into his father.
He quickly got up, stumbling a little. He threw away all the alcohol in his house, he drank water to sober up. The next thing he was about to do needed him to be sober for.
Liv had paid for her Chinese and was sitting on her couch eating it, every once in a while looking at her stomach. Their was a little life growing inside her. She smiled at the thought of it, she rubbed her stomach.
"Hi baby, i'm your mommy. I promise you to do the best I can, and to give you all the love I can. Right now it's hard between me and your dad..but if he doesn't want you. Then it'll just be me raising you. Now you have to cut me some slack it's my first time. But I promise to do my best and to make your childhood the best childhood anyone could have. I love you baby.", she whispered to her stomach.
She sat there for a few minutes letting the idea of a little toddler running around the house, having bath time, reading to them before bedtime. It was all to real for her. She had finally gotten her dream. She was going to be a mom.
Her thoughts were once interrupted again by another knock. She sighed "Who is it?" She yelled. No answer. She looked in the peep hole "Kathy." she whispered.
Elliot had sobered up enough, he was going to talk to Liv. He needed things to be right between them. He didn't like barely talking to her, he needed her even if she didn't need him. He had taken a shower and changed, he dropped by the store picking up flowers and wine. Even if she didn't want them, at least he had tried.
He sat in his car giving himself a brief prep talk, "You can do this Elliot." he repeated to himself over and over. He had pulled up to her building, he could see her the light on in her living room through the window. He thought of the times he's wait outside for the light to turn on indicating she was in and safe.
As he reminisced, something caught his eye. "Kathy?" He said to himself. "What the hell would she being doing here?" He thought.
Liv had took a deep breath before opening the door, she put on a fake smile. "Kathy, what a nice surprise. What can I do for you?" Kathy looked at her "We need to talk." "About what?" she was confused, her and Kathy were never the best of friends. The only time she would ever come to see her was if something was wrong with Elliot. Liv's heart leaped out of her chest at the thought of something wrong with Elliot. "Is Elliot okay?"
Kathy sighed "Yes he's fine. Can I please come in so we can talk." Liv moved to the side gesturing for her to come in. Kathy gave a small smile and walked in, she sat on the couch. Liv looked at her "Can I uh get you a drink?" "No i'm fine. This won't take long." Liv nodded and sat on the opposite side of the couch.
"So what do we need to talk about?" "Elliot is in love with you." Kathy blurted out. Liv acted shocked, she had already known from that morning after. But she did not need Kathy knowing about her and Elliot. "Liv, I don't know if you love him or not. But he's in love with you...your his other half. He needs you Liv."
Liv sat there letting the words sink in. Elliot needed her. "Kathy I don't know what to say." "Do you love him?" "I uh" should she tell his ex-wife that she loved her ex-husband. She loved Elliot, more than anything. He was her rock, she needed him in her life. She does love him.
"Liv if you do then i'm fine with it. When I first saw you I knew I was screwed, when you guys got even closer I knew. I lost him." Liv sat there listening to his ex-wife telling her that she needed to be with Elliot. This was the woman that always accused him of sleeping with her, the one who had said Elliot preferred to spend time with her more than his kids, the one who referred her as his "Office Wife", this was the one who didn't want their marriage ending.
Liv couldn't say anything, every attempt she tried to say something nothing came out. "Olivia yes or no. Do you love Elliot?" Liv looked down at her stomach, it was barely a bump yet, she thought of her and Elliot having a life together, she wanted to be with him. "Yes" she answered simply.
Kathy got up "Then tell him. Before it's too late." Liv nodded "I hope you and Elliot can be together, and i'm sure the kids would love to see you more. Bye Liv." Kathy walked out.
Elliot sat in his car for 20 minutes waiting for his ex-wife to leave his best friends house. Of course he was curious as to what she was doing here, Kathy and Liv never were good terms, Kathy was always blaming their failed marriage on Liv. But it wasn't Liv. Elliot had simply had enough.
Why stay in a loveless marriage? Their marriage has ended a long time ago. It wasn't meant to be, it never was. The only reason they got married was because she was pregnant with Maureen. He did what he thought was the right decision he stayed with her. He was brought out of his thoughts when he saw Kathy walking out.
He looked at her, there's wasn't any bruises, cuts, or blood. No fight. She wasn't crying, but she wasn't happy. He sighed, "What the hell were they talking about?" he mumbled to himself. He waited til Kathy had driven off to go inside.
He walked up the 6 flights of stairs, wine and flowers in hand. He got to her door 6B. He gave himself a simple brief quick speech. He knocked twice before waiting for her response.
Liv had sit there still letting everything soak in, she looked at the clock it was late. She decided to talk to Elliot tomorrow, it would give her time to process everything and figure out how she was going to tell him about the baby, and that she loved him.
She heard two knocks. She stood up and opened the door without looking first. There stood Elliot, holding flowers and wine. She stood there frozen, was she dreaming? No of course she's not. "Elliot." She whispered.
