~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~'Can I ask you something?' I asked quietly, my gaze lifting to him to study his reaction. I had always been curious, since the first day we met, so he was familiar with my endless questions. I think I drove him insane the first few days I spent in the world and away from Neverland with all of my questions.
'Sure,' Pan smiled, thinking nothing of it.
'The new Lost boy, Henry...' I trailed off, hoping that Pan would take this as a hint that I couldn't remember much about him. I didn't want Pan to think that I was quizzing him, but I had a good method of easily getting answers and information from Pan without him even noticing.
'What about him?' Pan interrupted impatiently.
Eyeing Pan awkwardly from the corner of my eye, I asked curiously, 'You know a lot about him for having only just met, especially that he reminds you of his Father. Have you know his family members or something?'
'His Father was one of the Lost Boys, before he left,' Pan replied stiffly and I nodded not wanting to press him anymore. All my role in my side of the game was to ensure that I found out as much as I could about Pan's game, in order for Henry's family to hopefully win.
'Don't you think he'll come back and find him?' I asked, concerned, but Pan just smiled and squeezed my hand reassuringly, buying into my obvious act.
'Oh, I'm counting on it,' When I frowned at his ambiguous answer, he continued. 'Don't worry, Tiger, my plan won't fail because Peter Pan never fails. He can't be stopped. Even when you think you've won.'
It wasn't just an attempt to reassure me, it was a threat.
Despite my panic, I nodded and gave him the most fake grin that I could manage, before nestling my head back onto his shoulder and relaxing my body. But this was just an illusion, because in fact I was very tense.
I didn't understand what Pan had meant. I needed answers. And I needed answers fast. The person I needed to speak to was Captain Hook.
~
It didn't take me long to find him. I stood in the shadows of the trees and waited until he was alone. Just before I came down to talk, I heard Pan coming this way and had watched him make his way towards Hook, wondering if Pan was hiding anything from me.
Hook sighed and slumped down onto the rock, taking a swig of alcohol and sighing heavily.
'You really should've taken my deal.' I jumped as Pan said this and Hook almost fell over, regaining his balance pretty quickly and glancing over at the bipolar, obnoxious teenager before him, grinning with curiosity. My eyebrows knitted together and I leaned forwards, anticipating what deal Pan meant.
'Well it doesn't look like I'll be needing your help with them after all, mate.' Hook replied dismissively, smiling up at Pan.
'You think that kiss actually meant something?' Pan mused and I felt my heart clench that Pan was being so cruel to the captain. I glared at him in anger, wanting to slap him because I knew what he was doing: he was testing Hook.
'I do, I think she's finally starting to see me for the man I am.' Hook replied with another satisfied smile, his eyes returning to his drink.
Peter Pan scoffed, smirking and folding his arms in front of his chest and slightly looking down at Captain Hook. 'What? A one-handed pirate with a drinking problem? I'm no grown up, but I'm sure that's less than appealing.'
