Hey,
Thanks for reading. Hope you enjoy it.
Does anyone else love the song above? also, does anyone else recognise the song below? Apparently it's traditional...?

'Land of the silver birch
Home of the beaver
Where still the mighty moose
Wanders at will
Blue lake and rocky shore
I will return once more
Boom-diddy-ah-da, Boom-diddy-ah-da, Boom-diddy-ah-da, bo-oo-oom...'

I listened to the echoes throughout Neverland. When Peter Pan wanted to be alone, he would go to his thinking tree. When I wanted to be alone, I flew up to the highest point in Neverland from which I could see the most of the forest and a lot of the beach too. My songs would echo off the world and I could think big thoughts on big mountains.

'High on a rocky ledge
I¹ll build my wigwam
Close to the water's edge
Silent and still
Blue lake and rocky shore
I will return once more
Boom-diddy-ah-da, Boom-diddy-ah-da, Boom-diddy-ah-da, bo-oo-oom'

I vaulted over a nearby tree and set off towards the parched grass of the clearing. The clearing was as empty as the surrounding forest and it was one of the few places that I felt entirely relaxed and at ease without human opinion and judgement.

'High as an eagle soars
Over the mountains
My spirit rises up, free as a bird
Blue lake and rocky shore
I will return once more
Boom-diddy-ah-da, Boom-diddy-ah-da, Boom-diddy-ah-da, bo-oo-oom

When I reached the logs, I sank into the only one that had survived the vandalism of the Lost Boys and Peter Pan, coiled one arm around the vines around it and stared moodily at the ground.

'Swift as a silver fish
Canoe of birch bark
By mighty waterways, Carry me forth
Blue lake and rocky shore
I will return once more
Boom-diddy-ah-da, Boom-diddy-ah-da, Boom-diddy-ah-da, bo-oo-oom

'My heart grows sick for thee
Here in the lowlands
I will return to thee hills of the north
Blue lake and rocky shore
I will return once more
Boom-diddy-ah-da, Boom-diddy-ah-da, Boom-diddy-ah-da, bo-oo-oom'

I opened my mouth to begin the next verse, but a familiar voice interrupted me. A voice I hadn't heard alone for a long time, but in a motherly way I knew it was my son's voice.

'Land of the silver birch
Home of the beaver
Where still the mighty moose
Wanders at will
Blue lake and rocky shore
I will return once more
Boom-diddy-ah-da, Boom-diddy-ah-da, Boom-diddy-ah-da, bo-oo-oom...'

Rumplestiltskin finished the final part and dropped down into the seat beside me, following my gaze over Neverland. We sat in perfect silence for a moment, listening to the birds and sitting side by side like we used to when he was a child.

'I can't believe you remembered it, Rumple,' I said kindly with amazement, watching him out of the corner of my eye. I didn't quite believe that when I left him at such a young age, these words would stick with him forever.

'Of course I remembered the song you used to sing me every night, mama,' he said gently, teasing me a little with the reference to the name he used to call me. Yet, after decades of not hearing it, that simple name made my heart glow in the nostalgic memory.

'Aren't you happy to see me?' Rumple asked with a small smile, teasingly.

'I haven't decided whether I am more happy that you are alive, angry Pan didn't tell me or upset that I couldn't care for you. I would have left Neverland... If I had known.' I replied.
