Chapter 1 - New Home

Oakland, California

Sophia's POV

Waking up in the smell of salt and the sounds of waves makes me smile. I glance at my alarm clock, 11:35 pm. My eyes widen. Gosh! 'Am i that really tired?' I asked myself not believing how late i woke up.

We already arrived at Oakland, California last night. I go to the bathroom to take a shower. After showering, I change into my blue sundress walk to the balcony and look in the beach. Wow! The beach are very crowded! 

I run to the kitchen grabbing a sandwich that mom made, I sat down on the bar stool thinking of what would I do today and where would I go?. Hmm... I still have 1 week before my senior year starts, I wonder what kind of people are here? do I make a lot of friends? Are the teachers horrible? oh God!, those thoughts keep playing on my head.

"Hi"

"AHHHHHHH..."I screamed and jump in the stool that causes me to stumble on the floor. I closed my eyes when my butt hits the floor. What the hell?!!

When I open my eyes, I found myself looking at a handsome hot stranger. Wow. I narrowed my eyes at him remembering how my butt stings right now. How dare he scares me like that!

"Shit! Sorry? Are you okay ms.?" the guy looks guilty and hurried beside me to help me stand up.

"W-who are you? What are you doing in my house?" I ask cautiously stepping back. Shit! W-hat if his a rapist or a m-urderer? The thoughts gives me goosebumps.

"I'm Tyler Reed, sorry I scared you, and I was looking for Mrs. Cullen actually" he said smiling sheepishly scratching his head.

How the hell did he knows mom?! "Oh! Apology accepted, but next time don't sneak in a girl like that! You almost give me a heart attack." I said scolding him like a mother hen and added. "I'm Sophia Cullen by the way. Uhmm... Why are you looking for my mom? And how do you know her?" I eyed him suspiciously raising my eyebrow.

"I-ii..." he stutter scratching his head, while I wait for his answer.

"What?" Goodness! Did he just stutter? I was looking at him then stop at his hands which is holding something. I drool at the sight.

"uh... Here, this is a welcome gift from my mom." He said while handling me the jar of cookies.

I accepted it excitedly making him laugh. "Wow! Thank you so much. Actually my mom's not here, she's working." I said smiling widely.

"Its fine, I just tell mom. Uhm... So, How's your first day in Cali?" he ask nervously.

I quirked an eyebrow and said, "Actually, We just arrived last night and I haven't gone out but I planned on going out after lunch" I walk to the living room with him following behind me.

"Yeah, I've heard about it from mom that you arrived last night. You'll love this place. The beach is really nice you know and the people here are approachable. Um... what school do you attend to?" He said awkwardly.

I looked at him closely; Handsome, check. Hot, double check. Pointed nose, and the muscles I think his a football player or something, and I didn't realize I was checking him out already. Just shit! I could feel my cheeks heating up.

"uh-mm.. What was that? Did you ask something?" I said while looking away from him so he couldn't see me blush. Arrgh! I think he just see it the way his mouth turns to smirk.

"No need to be embarrass babe, I know I'm hot." He winks at me.

I rolled my eyes heavenwards. "Wow! Cocky much are we? And don't call me babe; I have a name you know." I glared at him.

"It's true and you didn't object that I'm hot. Right, So?" he said still smirking at me. I shook my head at his cockiness.

I really want to smack that smirk of his face. But then his right, his definitely hot but I won't give him the satisfaction he wants. "I've seen hotter guys at the beach." I lie, just to make his ego drown. Hahaha... I laugh silently at myself.

"Really, I don't think so. You just said that you haven't gone out to the beach." I panic. How stupid of you Sophia!

"I was actually looking out from the balcony, " I said trying to defend myself. "And for your questions, I'm a senior and at Oakland High" I said while feeling self conscious. I added quickly. "You, What year and school are you attending?"

There was a wide grin on his face. "Were actually the same, uhmm..." then we head a beep sound. He looks at his phone and get up. "I better go, mom's looking for me"

Thank Heavens! "Oh, okay, please tell your mom thanks for the cookies and it was really nice of her.  Nice meeting you Ty." I said happily to him. Happy that he would be out of my sight! 

I heard him 'tsk'. "Same here, and don't be too happy Sophia, I'll be back later or tomorrow." He said smirking. I stuck my tongue at him.

When he was gone, I sighed in relief. What was that all about Sophia? I shook my head. First day and meet a hot guy! Way to go Sophia! 

I smiled. This is getting more interesting.
