Racism Is Still Alive

Saturday Afternoon

Mar and i were sitting in the living room, watching tv. just enjoying our alone moment. Prince was with his grandparents, Benji was with our neighbor Old Lady Shirley at the store helping her shop.

*ring ring*

Mar reached and grabbed her cell, saw it was Ms.Shirley calling. she put her on speaker

"hey, Ms.Shirley." Mar said

"ay, you and Kournell need to get to the station, they arrested Benji." Ms.Shirley

"What?!" Mar and I loudly said

"He didn't do anything, just get here please." Ms.Shirley said

"we're on our way." i said,

we got up rushed grabbed my cell, put our shoes on. we rushed out the house, i had called Captain Thomas Williams. he's a very good family friend and poker buddy. i told him what's going on.

"what...i'm on my way in." he said

than i called my older brother Ralph, he's a lawyer. one thing my father always told us, when in trouble never show up to a police station or court house without a lawyer at your side, cause you never know what they'll try to do.

I sped on over to the police station. Ralph and Thomas pulled up just as we did. we got out and went inside the police station.
we walked up to the desk

"where's my son?" Mar angrily asked

Ms.Shirley came from the squad room, along with an officer walking in from a different direction. he looked at us as he stood a few feet from us

"calm down, ma'am." he said

"you don't tell a upset mother to calm down, now where's my son." Mar said

"he's in a cell he was arrested for theft." the officer answered.

"my son's not a thief." i said

"he didn't do anything, a boy on his bike came and grabbed my purse as he pushed me down, i was heaving bad, Benji went after him cause my inhaler was in it; this officer grabbed Benji instead of getting the other boy he only grabbed him cause he had my purse in his hand." Ms.Shirley said

we looked at her, she looked at us and cont "i've been here trying to tell this officer Jones that for the past two hours, that's why i called you two; i knew they hadn't called you or you would've been here long before."

our eyes widen, as she said that we looked at the officer.

"you had my son for two hours, he is a minor...you are to call him." Mar loudly said.

i was doing everything in my power not to lose my temper.
Thomas looked at the lady officer and said "go get him, now."

he looked back at Officer Jones, hands on his hips with a pissed off look on his face.

Three minutes later

the lady officer came with Benji. we saw he had a bandage beside his eye, from officer Jones tackling him down to the ground. Benji came to us, Mar felt him shaking a lot. i stared into his eyes, he was scared, hurt and angry. i looked at the officer.

Thomas looked at Benji and said "I am soo sorry this happened, you did not do anything wrong, okay this should've never happened."

Benji nod his head a bit, Officer Jones held out his hand and said "sorry about that, didn't know." as he took a step towards Benji.
Benji jerked back as he stared him down looked at his hand
