18th Night: Rido Reawakens

                 It was about 6:30 pm. I gently open my eyes, and I don't feel Kaname's warmth. The bed is cold. "Kaname?" I got up from bed, and I knocked on the bathroom door,but there was no response. I opened the door, and he wasn't there. My eyes then move to the letter that Hana-chan left last night. I went to the counter and opened the letter.

Dear Lady Mitsuki Kobayashi,
We invite you to attend the Ichijo family's vampire soirée. We, as well wish for the coexistence between vampires and humans. We hope that you attend, for it would be a pleasure to see you there on November 30th.

Well, obviously my father will force me to go either way, so might as well. But first, I have to find Kaname! I ran around the dorm, looking for Kaname. I've asked everyone, but they all said they haven't seen him. Then I saw Kyoko and Takuma-chan approach me.

"Mitsuki-chan, I need to talk to you. Can you meet us in Kaname's office?" I knew what they were going to tell me. So I just walked quietly through the dim hallways, following them. When we entered Kaname's office, it was silent and quiet. His scent still roamed around the office. Kaname.. Why did you go without telling me?

"Mitsuki-chan, as you know, Kaname has once again took a temporary leave from Cross Academy for unknown reasons. He left you a letter that is for your eyes only."

He gave me the letter, and I quickly opened it to see what he wrote.

My Sweet Mitsuki,
          I'm sorry, but I'm going to protect you, whether you like it or not. Please do not follow me, for I have hidden my presence. I love you too much.  Please protect Koichi for the time I'm gone. I'm doing this for the sake of our future. I love you, my sweet rose.

I crunched the letter in my hands and the windows began to slightly crack.

  "Mitsuki, are you alright?" Kyoko said, trying to comfort me.

I just looked down, upset.

"Also, Kaname told me if it's ok with you, that you would temporarily take the position of Dorm President."  Takuma said.

I instantly ran out of the office, and went outside of the dorm.

"Mitsuki-chan!!" I heard Takuma call to me.

"Kaname... Why.. Why did you leave?" I bent down to the floor, as I looked straight ahead from the gate, tears in my eyes.

No matter how much I tried to search for him, I could not detect his presence near the academy. Takuma and Hanabusa came running to me.

"Mitsuki-chan, come back inside. It's getting cold!" Hana-chan said. I whispered softly.

"Kaname.. Please. You can't face him on your own... He's far too powerful.. And he's your master.." Takuma then gently touched my shoulder.

"Mitsuki-chan, come on. He's going to be ok, remember this is Kaname Kuran we're talking about here. He'll be back before you know it." I got up from the ground, with Takuma and Hanabusa bringing me back inside.

*Kaname's PoV*

From here, I can sense Mitsuki's suffering. My heart is in pain and chaos. I can sense the tears that fall from her eyes. I feel like the tears in my eyes are threatening to fall but I hold them back. However, I don't regret this.

"Kaname, are you sure this is ok? Leaving a day early?" Masato said. I nodded.

"Yes. I heard Mitsuki last night in her thoughts saying that she was going to go by herself to handle this. But I don't want her or Koichi to be involved. So I thought we should leave before she would even think of a plan."
