Shay's grandpa let go of Kc and turned to look at her.
He started laughing. Everyone joined in awkwardly laughing.
"You're gay? And what's next you have a girlfriend?"
Kc put her hand up. "How ya doing?"
"What?"
Kc walked over to Shay and wrapped her arm around her shoulder.
Shay hugged onto Kc.
"Grandpa. This is my girlfriend Kc."
"You have made a fool of me." He said to her.
"But...Grandpa."
"You weren't gay when she walked into your life." He said and pointed to Kc.
"What are you implying?" Kc asked offended.
"That you pressured my granddaughter into dating you."
"That's not the case at all." Kc said.
"I find that hard to believe." He said. "Sixteen years with you and you ruin her life."
"Who do you think you are? Because I know that my grandpa isn't this." Shay said to him. "Actually. I've never been happier than I am right now. And if you can't accept that. I guess I just lost my grandpa."
He said nothing and left.
A tear dropped down Shay's face.
"Shailene." Her parents said. Shay hugged into Kc.
"Thank you." Kc whispered to her. "I'm so proud of you."
"I love you okay?" Shay said.
"And I love you more." Kc said.
"Don't doubt me again. Because when you do it really fucking sucks."
"never again." Kc said and kissed her.
The two went to a party shortly thereafter.
"This party blows." Kc said.
"Don't say that Kc. It's fine." Shay said.
"I wanna go home and cuddle while watching girl code." Kc said.
Emily walked over to them.
"Heyyy you guys!" She slurred.
"Sup em." The girls said.
"I love you guys. So much. You're like my sisters. And. I'm gonna miss you guys."
"Why? We're not going anywhere." Shay said.
"Oh shittt. You didn't know. Yeah. I'm not graduating."
"What?!" The two yelled.
"Why?" Kc asked.
"My teachers flunked me."
"God em."
"That's horrible."
"Well not everyone can be prodigies like you two and be there for free. Plus. You two are 16 and seniors." Emily said and laughed. "Aren't you two like a thing?"
"Yeah. Where's Mari?"
"outside. Designated driver yo." Emily said. "Happy party going!" She skipped away.
"She's so drunk." Kc and Shay said with smiles.
They walked outside and saw Mari looking at a cup.
"Hey boss." Kc said and sat next to her.
"Hello boss lady." Shay said and did the same.
"Hey guys." Mari said with a small smile.
"What's wrong?" Shay asked.
