(A/n the italicized stuff will be Mari's valedictorian speech.)

Kc was sitting on her bed waiting. She didn't know what she was waiting for, but she waited.

There was a knock on her door. Kc looked up hopeful to see Shay but that hope fell when she saw Liz.

"You ready?" Liz asked.
Kc nodded and stood up. She grabbed all of her bags and walked outside.

We've reached a moment in our lives where it's time to grow up and choose what we're gonna make of ourselves.

Her parents, Shay's parents, and chandler watched as she loaded the car.
Kc went down the line hugging everyone. Her dad fixed her beanie and kissed her on the cheek.

"I love all of you." Kc croaked out.

"We love you too Kc." They all said back.
Liz got into the truck and Kc did the same.

A lot has happened this year and it'll probably be the most memorable and problematic ever. Let's take a little moment of silence for shailene Duncan and Kc Hartman.

"Liz."

"Yes Kc."

"Go to this address."

"Okay." Liz said and started her car. She drove to a house.
"Why am I here?"

"Wait a second. I'll be right back." Kc said and got out of the car. She walked up to the doorstep and rang the doorbell.

With all of our problems this year we did come together to keep the arts program alive to see another day. That is what we were all supposed to be.

A dark haired man answered.

"Hi." He said. His voice was deep, but relaxing.

"Hi." Kc said. "Is Mari home?"

"Yeah. She's just getting ready." He said.

"Can I wait inside?"

"Yeah." He said. "What's your name?"

"Kc. I'm her good friend." She said.

"I'm avi. Her cooler older cousin."

"I know that face." Kc said.

"Uh. Thanks?" He said and let her inside.

"No. You're in that group Pentatonix. You guys are really talented."

"Oh thanks." He said with a smile. "Mari! Get your butt down here. You got company!"

"Chill out avi." Mari said and ran to Kc when she saw her. The two hugged.

"I'll uh. Leave you two. Alone." Avi said and walked out.

A family.

"I'm leaving." Kc said. Mari kept it together when they let go.

"I'll be here when you get back."
Kc smiled at her and kissed her on the cheek.
"I love you Kc."
Mari sighed and hugged her.

A community.

Kc let her go and took off her necklace.
"I promise that when I'm able. I will love you back." She put the necklace on Mari. "I gotta go."
The dirty blonde haired girl bit her lip to keep her sobs in.
"I'll be okay. And so will you." Kc looked at her and turned on her heels.

Avi walked back in and put his arm around her shoulder. She laid her head on his and started to cry.

I think that if the deaths and shooting never happened we would've had a pretty perfect year and we wouldn't wanna change it for anything.

Liz drove Kc to the airport and watched her as she checked her bags in.
Kc started walking to security and looked back at her sister.
Liz looked like she was about to cry and Kc stopped in her tracks.

The taller sister ran back to Liz and held her tightly.

It's time to say goodbye to the people who've been with you since the beginning. People who love you. Your brothers, sisters, and maybe even partners.

"I love you." Kc whispered.

"I love you too."

"Keep an eye out for everybody."

"I will." Liz said and took a picture out of her wallet.
It was of them when they were younger.
"I got your back."

"And I got yours."

Make sure you send some love to Kc Hartman. She's not in attendance because she's going overseas to fight for our country.

Liz backed up and Kc turned. She started walking again and looked back.
Her older sister waved and Kc waved back.
Liz walked out of the building.

Tears flowed from Kc's eyes as her feet hit the marble floors. She got through security and wiped a tear from her face as she approached her gate.

It's just time we have to let go of our childhood.

She looked at the picture Liz had given her and pulled out her sketchbook.
She drew until she was called to board the plane.

Kc made sure she was the last person to board. She looked back at the place she had called home her entire life and boarded the plane.

Goodbye guys. It's been a hell of a year.
