Ashleigh told us that she had been seeing Ben Grover for a couple of weeks and that it was starting to get serious. I rolled my eyes. “You don’t know him Codie, he’s different!” She whined. I faked a smile before taking my stuff to the bathroom to get changed. I took my phone and the piece of paper with Luke’s number in my hands. I put my phone to my ear, biting my nail as the dreaded ringing tone echoed through the room. “Hello…” I smiled instantly. “Hey it’s Codie!” “Ah well this is like homework and extra work. Your homework was to text me, but this… You might be heading for an A*” I sat on the edge of the bath. “So what you up to?” I asked, not really knowing what to say. “Well, I’ve finished my homework so I’m watching Spongebob!” He must have heard me giggle slightly, “What’s funny?” “Nothing, you’ve just reminded me of Spongebob!” Luke spent the next few minutes accusing me of not living life to the full as I no longer watched Spongebob and that it was the best show ever. “Sorry, I must be interrupting your night!” “No, honestly you’re making it better!” “Are you at Maddie’s?” “Yeah…” I said, frowning at his curiosity. “Hello…” I looked at my phone saying that Luke had ended the call. “Ok then…” I felt annoyed, really annoyed and I wasn’t 100% sure why. I got dressed into my trackies and my old dancing t-shirt which had ‘Dancing Nationals 2010’ on the back. As I stepped back through to Maddie’s room her mum called from the bottom of the stairs. “Codie, your neighbour’s here, he needs to have a word!” The three of us looked at each other as if we were confused out of our minds. I ran down stairs and opened the door.  Luke had one finger pressed to his lips, and the other hand reaching out for me to take. I shut the door behind me before running down the street with him. “What are you doing here?” “You said you were bored!” “I didn’t say-” and before I could finish my sentence Luke placed me over his shoulder. He smelt so good I had to stop myself from inhaling too much. After a minute of squealing Luke put me back on the ground but we were no longer outside Maddie’s house. “I had no idea you were a dancer!” “I’m not!” Luke pointed at my t-shirt. “Well I used to be…” I looked around. “Why are we in an empty parking lot of an abandoned newsagents?” “You’ll find out…” “When?” “When you’ve shown me your dance moves, you must have been good to attend Dance Nationals” I laughed sarcastically, “No chance.” Luke pouted his lips and gave me the soppy eyes look. “Fine, I will at some point just not right now!” “Good enough for me!” Luke shrugged before he ran towards the abandoned building. I followed him as he stopped by a couple of bins. “Ready?” He asked. “For what?” He placed both hands securely on my waist before lifting me up on top of the bins. I moved over slightly as he pulled himself up. He raised his eyebrows at me with a cheeky smile. “I can’t lift you that high, but I can give you a boost!” I sighed as I placed my foot in his hands. As I grabbed the ledge I realised that my arse was basically in Luke’s face and to cover up the embarrassment, “I can sense you staring at my arse!” flew from my mouth. I climbed over the ledge and knelt down to look at Luke whose cheeks looked as red as mine felt. “It was kind of hard not to, it’s that big.” His head was just over the ledge so I hit the back of it. I stood up, walking a couple of steps. We were on the flat roof of the abandoned newsagents and it over looked the main city which looked beautiful with all the lights. “This is incredible!” I said smiling back at Luke.  ”I come here to do my work and just to be in my own world!” Luke explained as he over looked the city. “So you live here then?” He frowned before sitting down. “Is this where I’ll find you if I need you?” I asked as I sat down beside him. He laughed, “Why would you need me?”
“When I need to have a good time with a friend!” I saw Luke face me at the corner of my eye so I faced him. We looked at each other for a couple of seconds before smiling and looking back out at the view in front of us.
