I had spoken to Luke about 10 ties in the six months, over long Skype calls. The lust, power and commitment had gone from our relationship and it was mroe like best friends catching up. My time became empty and wasted. So I grew back into dancing, gaining the adrenalin rush I used to get. I entered a couple of local competitions and won them. At one, a scouter for a dancing school was there and after seeing me perform he came over and spoke to me. After a short discussion he offered me a scholarship at his dancing school. Lisa jumped at the news and almost squeezed me to death when I told her. After a couple of nights, I accepted. I had sat on my bed both nights wanting to talk about it with Luke but I knew he was busy and it was insignificant compared to what he was doing. Lisa managed to persuade social services to let me stay at the home until I left for the school. My last Skype call with Luke was the early hours of my 18th birthday. He kept apologising for not being with me, but told me to just look at the rose if I missed him, which I did. I couldn't tell him about the scholarship. I wanted to tell him in person, not over a computer screen when we sat on opposite sides of the world. It got to the day of me leaving. The kids were crying and I tried my hardest throughout the morning not to break down myself. I was tidying the final bits in my room and lifted the dead rose out of its vase. I stroked one of the shrivelled up petals before throwing it into the bin. I walked downstairs, everyone outside. Lisa was putting the last of my bags into the back of the car. I said goodbye to everyone, that's when I couldn't hold the tears back anymore. "You call me the moment you arrive ok?" I nodded as LIsa held me close. "Can't believe one of my babies is leaving the nest..." She said, wiping under her eyes. "I'll be back!" I smiled faintly. I waved one final time as I walked to the door of the car. "Codie!" I heard a muffled voice cry. My head turned and I stared at the empty street in front of me. "You ok honey?" Lisa asked. I smiled and nodded. "Bye guys! I'll miss you but I'll be back soon!" "Good Luck!" They all cried as I started the engine. I could have sworn I heard my name again, but I wasn't sure over the noise of the engine. I started to pull away. "Codie!" The voice echoed in my ears. I slammed down on the breaks and looked in my rear view mirror. I caught a glimpse of someone leaving, going out of my sight. I frowned and shook my head before continuing down the street.
