Today is to raise awareness of poverty,
in developing countries but also elsewhere,
the world needs to wake up to this problem,
all nations have people like this somewhere.
Today is to make the voice of the poor heard,
let them know we are aware of the situation,
so let's put an end to the hardships they face,
no more should they face starvation.
The United Nations International Day for the Eradication of Poverty has been observed on October 17th each year since 1993. It is to make people aware of the need to eradicate poverty and destitution in the world, especially in developing countries.
