Chapter Two: Gerard

            We talked for quite awhile, when I noticed Frank talking to Ray. They both came over and sat down with us. “Guys, this is Lyn-Z Ballato. Lyn-Z, This is Ray Toro and Frank Iero.” “Nice to meet you.” Frank said shaking her hand along with Ray. She just continued drinking her coffee that was soon to be gone. “Have you seen Mikey?” I asked the guys. “No. He was in Math class though.” Said Ray. “Is Mikey your brother?” Lyn-Z asked. “Yeah, he is two grades lower than us.” I said sitting back in my chair. “He just went in the lunch line.” Said Frank standing up from his chair. I just nodded my head and drank my coffee. Frank got up with Ray and stepped into the lunch line just to get a cookie. “Well, that’s Frank and Ray for ya.” I said. She giggled and I noticed that she was really nervous. She seemed to be self conscious but I didn’t understand why because she was beautiful the way she was. Any guy would be lucky to have her. Lunch was soon over and everyone eventually met each other. We all went our separate ways to our last class of the day. Mikey to Science, Ray and Frank to English, Me to art, and Lyn-Z English. Lyn-z and the guys didn’t have the same teacher though. I sat through art not thinking straight. I was supposed to be drawing Spiderman, but I was just on Facebook and sketched in my notebook. After an hour and twenty minutes, the bell rang and I went to my locker to see if I needed any books, but I didn’t have any homework. Ray, Frank, and Mikey broke into the empty library to work on homework. We always broke in there but we never seemed to get caught. I was walking to get a drink from the water fountain, when I heard someone crying. I looked down at Lyn-Z’s locker and saw her on the ground with her head between her legs. Her locker was open and her stuff was everywhere. “Lyn-Z? Are you okay?” I asked forgetting about my thirst and as my Converse hit the ground. I sat down next to her and she just shook her head. “My dad is gone again and some group of preps threw my stuff everywhere.” She explained to me. “What do you mean by your dad is gone again?” I asked scooting closer to her. “He gets high or drunk or both and he just leaves. He locks he house. I can get in, it’s just I don’t want to go back there.” I placed my arm around her and pulled her in. “It’s going to be alright.” I hugged her and she hugged me back even tighter. “You can always stay at my house.” I offered. She nodded her head in agreement. “Thank you so much Gerard. You really are one of a kind.” She said whipping her tears. We just sat there for a few minutes in silence when I asked, “Do you want to come study with me and the guys in the library?” “Sure.” So I helped her up and we gathered her things. We walked in the library and “studied” until six o’clock. “So is she like, apart of our group now?” Mikey asked. “I guess.” Frank said and Lyn-Z just smiled. I dropped Frank and Ray off at their houses and I drove Mikey, Lyn-Z, and I to my ma’s house. “Here we are.” I said unlocking the doors and exiting the vehicle. “Nice place.” Lyn-Z said as we entered the house. “You can sleep in my room if you want, I can sleep on the couch.” I said. “Okay.” She said. “Who is this?” My ma’, Donna, asked. “This is Lyn-Z Ballato.” I said. “She is new here.” Added Mikey. “Well nice to meet you dear.” Donna said shaking Lyn-Z’s hand. Darkness soon blanketed the sky and we went to sleep. I lay on the floor waiting for day to come just so I could see Lyn-Z’s face one more time.
