Chapter 17

Stuck ^ for 23 hours- not fun

I woke up the next morning still in my shorts and t-shirt and saw that Luke's mattress was empty. I didn't bother to check my phone, when I looked up I saw one of my dresses, a jacket, a pair of my pumps, a new pair of underwear and my engagement ring on the floor next to me.

Luke walked into the room dressed in a pair of washed out jeans and a loose t-shirt. "Morning Kate, get dressed we don't want to be late" late for what?

I thought that it was Probably a meeting that I forgot about and decided not to ask any questions. I took the clothes and went to one of the 7 bathrooms in the house, I got dressed and slipped on my ring.

When I left the bathroom Luke was waiting for me at the front door and when I reached him we started to walk to his car, when I got in his car I finally decided to check my phone.

"She replied" I said excitedly

"I know"

I read the message
Of course I remember you Kate, I am so sorry for what happened 13 years ago, I hope you have lived a happy life and I saw you on the news yesterday <3 -Minette

"Wait, how do you know?"

"Long story"

"Luke" I looked at him "how do you know?"

"I took your phone this morning to get her number and we started talking to each other"

"You spoke to my sister?"

"Yes" I looked at the road and saw that we are turning off to the airport

"What are we doing here?"

"I'm sure you can guess"

"Is Minette landing today?"

Luke just kept quiet as we parked, we got out of the car and Luke took out 2 suitcases. As we got out of the car I saw a few cameras flashing but I didn't worry much about that untill my phone started to ring.

"What are the suitcases for Luke?" I whispered before I answered my phone

"We have a 23 hour flight to prepare for Kate" it shocked me, are we really going to Australia

"Hello?" I said into my phone

"Kate, what are you doing at the airport?" I heard my dad's voice

"Dad, I don't know how you know but isn't it you and mom that want Luke and I to be at more places together? Well that's what we're doing!"

"But where are you going? Didn't you two just buy a house?"

"Dad, my fiancé and I are going to... we are going on a short holiday before I have to start university"

"Kate where. Are. You. Going?" He sounded really strict but I didn't want to answer so I just hung up

"Luke, are we going to Australia?"

"Yes, Minette sent me her address and we are going to visit her"

I started to shake and Luke tried to calm me down, we checked in our bags, went to VIP lounge, boarded first class and started to fly, this entire time I was still shaking and Luke was still trying to calm me down but it wasn't working.

We sat in the plane "Kate relax, why are you so stressed?"

"L-Luke wh-why a-are w-we ev-even d-doing-"

"Kate, we are doing this because you love your sister and I want you to see her again. And relax Kate, she's your sister not some serial killer"

"Would you like anything to drink?" The airhostess asked us

"Can we both please have a honeybush tea?" Luke ordered I sat there quietly, the tea arrived and after I finished my tea the caprain spoke

"It is now 22:00 and we will be landing in seven hours, our cabin crew is going to switch off the cabin lights and I hope you all have a lovely nap"

Less than a minute later the cabin lights got switched off and I lied down but I couldn't sleep, Luke fell asleep about 30 minutes after the lights went off but I just laid there, an hour passed and I was still wide awake.

Another hour passed and I was still wide awake, I looked around and every single passenger was asleep.

Another hour went by and when I looked at the time it was 00:36

Another hour passed and it was half past one.

I still sat there wide awake as another hour passed. I looked at my watch 2:45

At three Luke woke up. "Kate how'd you sleep?"

"I didn't" I whispered

"You have to relax and sleep" he insisted

"Luke I'm fine, you have to get more sleep"

"I'm not sleeping untill you have slept for at least 30 minutes" he said softly

I let out a yawn that I had been holding back and tried to sleep, I officially fell asleep at 3:20 and slept till we landed which was at

"Kate wake up, we're here" Luke woke me up softly

I sat up straight with my eyes wide open "we landed?" I asked

"Yes Kate, I hired a driver to take us to your sister's house but her house is an hour from the airport"

We got off the plane and got our bags, we found the driver that Luke hired and got into the car, by the time we got into the car it was already 6:00 in the morning and I fell asleep in the car.

I woke up as the car stopped and we were at a huge house, almost as big as the house that Luke and I bought. "We're here" the driver said

My phone rang just as the driver opened my door "hello?" I said as I got out

"You're in Australia?" I heard my dad's voice roar over the phone "what are you doing there?" The driver drove away and Luke and I stood on the sidewalk while I spoke to my father

"I am visiting an old friend" I said as Luke looked at me with worry

"How dare you go there without my permission, don't you remember that I have forbidden you to go there?"

" no I don't"

Luke grabbed the phone from me "with all do respect sir, your daughter and I are in Australia visiting someone who is actually the reason your daughter hates you so please leave us alone for the next 2 weeks"

"My daughter doesn't hate me" I heard my dad's loud voice

"That's what you think" Luke said before he hung up.

"Thank you Luke" he grabbed my bag and walked to the big black gate that was guarding the huge house
