chapter 20

Blake Lively as Minette

"I got such a fright when I realised you weren't next to me" I jumped at the sound of Luke's tired voice

"good morning Luke" I said after i recovered from the fright

"so..." Luke started before M.S walked in

"goodmorning lovebirds, anyone up for some coffee?" M.S offered

"uhm, that would be great, where is your wife?" I asked as Luke sat down beside me

"she had a late night last night, did she tell you about tonight?" M.S asked "Luke would you mind getting four mugs from that shelf?" M.S asked as e prepared the coffee machine

"no she didn't. what's happening tonight?" I looked at Luke who was reaching for the cups, his shirt lifted up a bit and i couldn't help but stare, M.S followed my gaze and chuckled

"we're having guests over, we can cancel if you guys aren't up to meeting people but it was planned since last year" M.S said as he took the four cups from Luke

"cancel? what are you talking about? why would you cancel on friends... No!" Luke retorted as he sat down next to me "if you want to stare at my back, just ask" Luke whispered in my ear and my face turned a dark shade of red

"ok great, well it's just a few friends... about twenty to thirty coming over for a get together tipe of thing, Amelia and Daniel are going to their nanny's house and yeah, that's about it."

"morning" Minette said with a yawn as she walked down the stairs " oh kate and Luke i need to tell you something, tonight we are having-"

"i told them hun" M.S said as he gave Minette a kiss and handed her a coffee

"yeah, he did, Minette i was wondering if you and i could like quickly run to the store and get stuff for tonight... and maybe, if you want to, we could catch up"

"that sounds great, after my coffee" Minette answered me as she sat down next to Luke "we should just drop the kids off at their nanny before we do shopping"

"ok cool, I'm gonna go get dressed" I said as i took the last sip of my coffee and got up. I walked to my room and saw Amelia and a little boy still in bed watching tv

"goodmowning aunty Kate" Amelia said as she got up and came to hug me "dis is my bwother Daniel" she said pointing at the boy

"hi Daniel, I'm your mom's sister, it's nice to meet you" he just looked at me and then got up and left the room

"he's shy... bye" Amelia said before she also left

i quickly hopped in the shower and slipped on a blue summer dress and pumps.

"thank you Mandy, I'll fetch them tomorrow afternoon at around one" Minette told the nanny after we dropped off her children.

" it's amazing how we still get along so well after years of not seeing each other"

"I know right" she answered

when we got back home it was an hour before the party and Luke pulled me into an empty room

"Kate, a few days ago you and i confessed our love for one another and we haven't acted like it at all since then, I know we are at your sister's house and all but are you sure you love me?" Luke asked sounding nervous

"of course I am Luke... i mean of course i do, i don't know if I'll ever stop loving you" Luke seemed happy about my answer and walked closer to me, his strong arms were wrapped around my body and i felt his breath on my face.

but then the door bashed opem- it was M.S "oh, uhm sorry to interrupt but our guests are starting to arrive"

Luke and I both walked to the living room and greeted the fist guests. it was a pregnant ginger woman and her thin, tall husband.

"hi, I'm-" I started to talk but her screech interrupted me

"oh my oh my, KATE ISLES. how on earth do you know M.S?" she started "and LUKE ADAMS!? oh my oh my" she yelled in a thick Australian accent

"oh it's lovely to meet you" Luke said and kissed her hand which made her face turn red her husband looked at her and frowned.

"oh my goodness-" the lady started

"Barbara!" her husband scolded "just please relax, or out little baby might pop out infront of everyone" she got mad, asked to see him in a different room and the two of them left

"I'm very sorry" I said to Minette who laughed and shrugged it off.

an hour later all the guests were here and i barely met any of them, the ones i did meet however were a lot less obsessed than Barbara

"Kate honey" Luke called as he walked over to me while i was talking to a very young couple, older than Luke and I but still young "I missed you" he said as he kissed me on the cheek "hi, I'm Luke" he said to the couple

"this is my fiancé, the one i was just talking about" I said to the couple

"oh my goodness, Kate! come here!" Minette said "i want you to meet one of my good friends, Chase"

i dragged Luke along and went to Minette and Chase "Hi, I'm Kate,-" i stopped speaking when i looked at the guy's face.

Luke obviously recognised him before i did "Chase Camberwell, I haven't seen you since that day in the locker room when you were talkinh about how you finally built up the courage to talk to Kate" Chase's face turned red

I started to laugh and Minette looked at me with wide eyes "Chase, what a pleasant surprise, I didn't think I'd ever see you again"

"Kate of course you were gonna see him again, you guys are supposed to get married, or atleast that's what he said in highschool" Luke said "and you were gonna beat any guy who tries to get her attention"

I started to laugh and Chase's face turned even more red "so Chase, you look great! what is happening in your life?" i changed the topic, i don't want poor Chase to burn to death, it would be such a shame... he has a great body.
