When it's arranged...

Chapter 11

Hey Kate, Austin here Catherine is coming back on monday, would that be a fine time to set the date? -Austin

I read the message as I arrived home. I had met Austin yesterday at the pub and I just came back from Lily's, I have exactly 37 minutes before I have to get to work. I was already dressed and ready for work (because I expected to go with Lily but she had other plans) and now all I had to do was tell Luke about the double date that I had arranged and I was good to go.

I picked up my phone and dialed Luke's number.

"Hello?" I heard a woman's voice over the phone

"Hi, uhh who is this" I know I shouldn't be as stressed as I am about this because Luke and I don't love each other but I'm just worried about what the media will think of me if they catch Luke cheating on me.

"Uhm..." I heard a few noises over the phone like someone was checking the caller ID "oh shit!" I heard silently as if it was far away "LUKE!" I heard the woman yell

Oh shit- I thought what if he was really cheating on me?, it hurts even though our relationship isn't really real to me. "Uhh Kate?" I heard Luke's voice

"Hey Luke" I tried to sound as happy as possible "I am sorry for not letting you know or even asking your permission but we have a double date on Monday"

"Oh, ok" I heard guilt in his voice "I'll be landing on Monday so if it's fine with you I'll just meet you there?" He asked

"Uhm, why don't you pick me up at my apartment and we can go together?"

"Sure" it was silent for a while "bye"

"Bye Luke" I hung up

What if he is cheating on me? That's bad isn't it? I would get broken by the media if they ever found out!

I looked at the time and saw that I still have half an hour left but I decided to go to work anyway.

When I got to work I was greeted by Christopher who had incidentally parked next to me

"Hey Kate, can I help you carry?" Christopher said pointing at my bag with my sweater in

"Uhm... no I'm fine thank you" I said probably sounding like I'm concentrating too much on something else

"Are you ok?" He asked sounding concerned

"Uhm yeah" I was still thinking about something else and not really listening to Christopher talking to me

"I'm gonna take your word for it and not bother you further" I shook my head to bring me back to planet Earth

"Sorry?" He started to give a small smile

"You daydream a lot don't you?" He asked me with a small laugh

"Yeah, I mean no, it's just" I hesitated about saying the final word but I said it "Luke"

"Oh really? He talks about you all the time at work, I mean this entire week I couldn't get him to shut up about you"

"This week? Isn't he in Egypt?" I asked

"Egypt?" He laughed but then seeing my expression his face turned serious "he told you he was going to Egypt didn't he?"

"Yeah! He's at work?" I asked him seriously

"Uhm, I don't feel comfortable telling you this, sorry!"

The rest of the night was calm, I was mostly thinking about Luke

Today Luke is supposedly returning from Egypt and he is coming to pick me up in an hour, according to Austin, Catherine was excited to meet me and she is apparently a fan of mine.

I wanted to stop thinking about what Christopher had told me about Luke but I just couldn't. Every song I listened to, every book I read, every movie I watched and every conversation I had reminded me of him, I couldn't stop thinking about every detail.

I waited and waited and then finally I heard a knock at my door. I opened the door and it revealed a well dressed Luke. I looked at him for a while, I was so mad at him, I couldn't help it.

"Hey Kate" he greeted but I stood there silently "do you have your ring?" He asked and I simply nodded my head

We walked to his car and I tried to sit as far away from him as possible.

The drive was silent until Luke decided to say something "so how do you know these two"

"I don't" I said

"Kate, what the hell?? They could be serial killers and kill us" he said madly

"Oh I hope so" I said as soft as I could

"What?" He looked at me with worry in his eyes "you want to die?"

"Luke," I turned to face him, I was ready to adress him about the entire situation "that was unacceptable, going to Egypt?" I laughed "sure that is where you went, but you obviously came back to work every day to talk to Christopher" I thought back to the phone call "and a woman answered your phone Luke, a WOMAN!!" I yelled the last word

He got an embarrassed look on his face and scratched the back of his head "Kate, it's... it's not what you think"

"Well I think, or I mean I hope that you weren't stupid enough to let the press find out that you were cheating on me!"

"I wasn't..." he tried to argue

"We're here" the driver said

"Thank you" i moved my head to Luke "come honey, we've got a show to put on"

Luke got out of the car and walked over to my door, while he was walking I messaged Austin
We're here, sorry for wait -Kate

Luke opened my door and as I got out all I could see was camera's flashing.
Luke grabbed me and kissed me for the camera's and when we were out of sight I whispered "Damn it Luke, I told you never to do that"

"To do what?" I heard Austin's voice behind us
