When I collided with the cool water, I immediately shut my eyes. My lungs felt as if they were squeezed smaller by the pressure, and my throat burned with trapped air with my ears pounding away. My heart was beating against her chest as fast as a mouse and all l heard was the rumble of the clear liquid that had surrounded me.
I could only feel the warmth that was embracing my waist as I sunk deeper down.
The weight of having no space to breathe became lighter as I was lifted out of the death trap.
"Hinata!" someone shouted, which was unacceptable due to the ringing still lingering in my ears, "are you okay?!"
I blinked twice for the remaining droplets of water blinding my eyesight to disappear, I saw Sakura above me (pls don't think like that ;-;)who had the most worried expression on her face. Her eyebrows were furrowed, her eyes darkening and the wrinkles above them told me that she indeed, was worried to her limits.
She had both her hands gripping my tensed shoulders.
I saw Kiba looking down at me, crouched on his knees, Sakura's worry reflecting his. He was shouting something but I couldn't really hear him.
I even saw Shino without his dark glasses on. He was alive, and something told me he wasn't even unconscious when he was flowing in the pool. He just didn't wanna get up.
Bastard.
"...inata....ata....Hinata!" Kiba's voice finally reached my ears and I shut my eyes to the noise.
"Y-yeah?" I said, although my voice sounded a bit croaky.
"Idiot! Why didn't you listen to my warning?!" Kiba shouted again making me grit my teeth.
"From what I heard, you only called my name, Kiba." I laughed forcefully.
His eyes darkened, and he sighed before wrapping his arms around me. "I'm just glad you're okay."
I patted his back and smiled, "So what now?"
He pulled back slowly and Sakura irked her head to the side twice, "I think someone's mad at youu, and I'm thinking you're gonna need to talk to him, if you can stand.",She nodded her head to behind me, making me realize we were away from the pool already.
Naruto's mad at me? But why?
I sighed before nodding and getting up with Kiba's aid.
He was leaning against a pole with his arms crossed with a not-so-happy face. As I approached him, I realized that his hair was wet as well.
Right, he fell into the pool too.
I say awkwardly to the bench besides him, not liking the fact that the bench was cold.
"So," I bit my bottom lip, "how's it going?"
He didn't answer, and looked at the sun that was currently setting.
I sighed, wanting to get straight to the point. "Why are you mad at me?"
He laughed coldly, making me flinch.
"Oh no, why would I ever be mad at you?" He spat out and finally looked at me.There were heavy dark bags under his eyes, his lips were parched and were formed into a straight line. His eyebrows connected in the middle, showing me that he really was mad at me besides his sarcasm earlier.
"Why---" I started but he cut me off.
"Why would you offer yourself to save Shino when you can't even swim?!" He raised his tone, making me feel guilty and uncomfortable.
Not to mention, but a bit hurt.
"It was my fault---"
"So?! You'd risk your life because it was your fault?!" He growled.
"I wanted to save h---" I began but he cut me off again.
"No! You don't do that! You didn't want to save him, you wanted to die." He stretched out the last word.
My heart was racing against my chest and I had to bite my lip in order to keep from crying. Yes, I am a cry baby. I don't even know this guy that well and he's already made me feel great, and he's already made me feel like crap.
He was pacing back and forth now, his hands that was barely restraining from running through his hair.
"You could've died," He said, still with no emotion, "if I wasn't there to save you."
I looked at the ground, refusing to meet his cold hard eyes that pierced through my heart.
"You saved me? O-oh, thank you, then." I said, my voice barely coming out as a whisper.
I heard a sharp sigh from him, and then footsteps approaching me. I looked up, immediately regretting that. His eyes were still burning with fury, and his tall self was hovering over me with the darkest shadow anyone could've ever imagined.
"Don't treat your life as if it was just meant to be saved, there's not gonna always be someone there to save you, you gotta do that yourself." And with that, he walked away with out a glance.
As his words burn themselves into my brain, I realize the events that occurred today. When I hid behind the barrel from Leo and Calivar, I met Naruto and he ended up saving me. When I went out to find Kiba and Shino, I ran into Leo and Calivar and he saved me from that.
He even saved me from drowning. It wasn't just me whom he saved, it was Shino too, who I was going to save.
But, I hadn't.
It was Naruto.
As I watched his back as he was walking away, a small tear escaped from my eye.
