I came awake slowly, but found myself blinking rapidly as bright lights fogged my vision.
I tried to make sense of the white walls surrounding me, but the erupting pain in my arm sent all kinds of questions. I tried to move, but it only made the pain worse.
I realized that an IV was stuck onto my arm, and the beeping of the monitors told me my location.
A hospital. I was in a hospital.
"I don't think you're supposed to move." Someone said chuckling.
I turned my head slowly to meet the familiar ocean blue eyes that carried sandbags under them.
Naruto sat in a chair next to me, and bit by bit the memories came back to me.
Just as my father had lost his mind and lunged at me with his blade, Naruto had pushed him so that it wouldn't hurt me.
But it did, it pierced through my left arm and soon my arm was drowning in blood. The wound was especially deep, I lost all stableness when Naruto forcefully removed the blade before I collapsed on the sand. My vision had become hazy, the shouts and screams of others surrounding me was replaced with ringing in my ears. [a/n: it was so deep that not even Adele could roll in it]
The last thing I saw before I was pulled into darkness was Shikamaru and to what looked like policemen approaching us.
"That bastard won't bother you anymore, Hinata. We took take of it." His lips twitched into a small smile.
I, however, felt like a train wreck and couldn't find the energy to smile back.
"It's been a week, y'know. I - we were scared of the thought of losing you, but the doctor told us you would be fine in a week or so." Naruto informed me, but I was paying close attention to the dark bags under his eyes.
"Sakura actually went to grab lunch, she'll be back any minute." He smiled, but it looked forced.
"How long have you..." I found myself asking, but stopped when Naruto ran his fingers through his hair.
"Ever since they put you in here, I couldn't being myself to go home." He spoke tiredly.
I frowned then, he had been here the entire time. It had occurred to me that if Naruto hadn't pushed my father then I would've faced bigger problems than just blood loss.
He saved me again, yet he always tells me to save myself.
It began with a fit of quiet giggling that soon turned into laughter.
Naruto quirked his eyebrows, "What's the matter with you?"
I grinned, "I don't know, I thought I was supposed to save myself."
His amused smile was washed away by a deep frown that gave him wrinkles above his forehead. [a/n: Adele can't roll in this either]
"I was an idiot then. I'll alw -"
I cut him off, "Who says you aren't an idiot now?"
"As I was saying before I was rudely interrupted, I was an idiot. I'll always be there when you need me." He finished with a crooked grin.
A feeling of warmth wrapped itself around my heart as I smiled back.
"Also..." He trailed off, looking rather shy then he was a moment ago.
"Uh...well...it was you who was eavesdropping at the bar, right?" He scratched his head.
I nodded slowly, my heart slowly beginning to race as I recalled what had happened there.
"So you heard what I said, right?" His voice was low, almost close enough to a whisper.
I nodded again, this time looking away from him.
"I meant every word, y'know." He spoke softly, and butterflies exploded everywhere in my stomach.
His face had become tinted with different shades of red when he looked at me seriously.
"I love you, Hinata."
I let out a shaky breath as his words made my knees go soft, but I wanted to let him know too.
Clenching onto the bed sheet hoping I wouldn't mess this up, I sighed.
"I love you too, Naruto." I whispered, but it was loud enough for him to hear.
I had shut my eyes, but when I opened them, Naruto looked as if he was the happiest man in the world.
"You...You mean it?" He sounded eager to know.
"I wouldn't lie about those kind of things, Naruto." I smiled slightly, hoping to overwhelm the fasting pace of my heart.
He then gave me a breathtaking grin, and I found myself mirroring it.
"So I can do this?" He asked, which left me in a state of confusion.
But the confusion was washed away when he connected his lips to mine, sending bolts of electricity throughout my body.
It was a deep and passionate kiss, but also my first one. And I loved every second of it. [a/n: Adele can't roll in a lot of deep things]
"Well I guess you've already eaten lunch, Naruto." A familiar voice interrupted us, recognizing the voice belonged to Sakura.
I was mortified, and it looks like Naruto was, too.
