"Hinata! Over here!" Sakura shouted at the village gate. I smiled sheepishly when she hugged me. She was the only other there, and I was beginning to get confused.
"Where are the others?" I asked Sakura who grimaced at my question.
"Those buttheads are late! The nerve they have to keep you and me waiting after you were just released!" She crossed her arms and huffed.
I smiled genuinely, "Sakura, that was a fortnight ago."
It had only been two weeks since I was released from the hospital, but Sakura is still looking out for any danger that could possibly injure me. It warmed my heart that she cared for my well-being, but it's been two weeks. I felt the same as before.
"Still, Naruto should be the one protecting you, not me!" She frowned.
I chuckled lightly, "Trust me, he's much more overprotective than you are."
"Was that an insult?" She placed a hand over her heart dramatically.
"Well, someone as precious as you needs to be protected at all costs." Naruto appeared in front of me and gave me a light kiss.
I heard Sakura groan, "Sasuke-kun, why can't you do that to me?"
"Because I don't feel like it." He grinned at her, "But I did get you a rose."
Once it was handed to her, she shrugged.
"Better than nothing."
"Oh, yeah. What was the mission?" Naruto asked me with a smile.
"Did you forget already? Oh - wait. You weren't even there to hear it!" I stomped my foot, recalling the moment.
"It's not my fault! The Ichiraku Ramen Shop had discounts that day!" He defended himself.
"It was this morning, Naruto." I grinned, knowing that I had won.
He scrunched his nose, showing obvious dislike to his loss. I leaned up and kissed his nose before poking his forehead. [a/n: she just pulled an Itachi]
"There's a drug lord on the loose, and Lady Tsunade entrusted us to go find him. The last time he's been seen was in the Cloud Village, and that's where we're headed now. It's really important if you didn't get what I said." I teased him some more.
He crossed his arms in a childish manner, "That was rude, Hinata. I'll have you know I understood every word you said!"
I laughed, "How manly."
"Hey lovebirds, if you're done flirting with each other, we have a job to do." Sasuke placed his hand on Naruto's shoulder, but Naruto shrugged it off.
"You guys go first, we'll catch up." Naruto told him, and I was beginning to worry if I had done something wrong.
Sasuke seemed to understand because he nodded firmly and head out with Sakura, but that was only before Sakura gave Naruto death threats if he did not show up within three minutes.
"What's up?" I asked him, my heart speeding up a little.
He sighed, "Listen love, I know you've always wanted to explore around. So I was thinking maybe...after this whole mission...we could go somewhere? Just the two of us." He sounded really nervous.
My lips parted into a wide grin, "You held us back because of that?"
He smirked, "It's important."
Still smiling, I wrapped my arms around his torso, "You know what my answer is."
"No?" I heard his frown.
"Yes, you idiot. Now let's catch up with the others before they kill us." I took him by the hand.
Sure enough, Sakura was angrily tapping her foot when we caught up.
"It's been 3 minutes and 2 seconds. I almost killed someone today." She told us but with a smile instead of a glare of death.
With Naruto's warm hand joined together with mine, I realized we had been through so much together, and I really thought it was the end for us.
But I was wrong.
It was just the beginning.
