Chapter 20
Kats
“I just love subway!” I said for maybe the tenth time
“We all know that now may” Nish told me in a sing-song voice
“But that doesn’t change the fact that I love subway!” I said
“Oh my god not again!” Nish groaned, suddenly my phone rang, I checked to see that an unsaved number was calling
“Whose number is this?” I thought out loud, Nish scooted close to me staring at my screen.
“It’s my mom” he said through his clenched teeth. Just hearing about his mom made me shiver. I tried my best to not let her memories cloud my head again. Nish placed his hand on my knee
“Don’t worry love, I’ll handle this. Remember, I won’t let anybody hurt my girl…okay?” he asked
“Okay.” I replied. I trusted Nish. He took the phone from my hand and headed outside leaving me alone with Kats.
“So Kats…are you always so shy around people?” I asked her to change the topic to a less serene one
this was the first time I was talking to her personally, I don’t know why but the minute I got to know that she was Nish’s sister, I thought of her as my own little sister too, she was so well-mannered, intelligent, yet so shy…like a butterfly stuck inside its cocoon, and I was most willing to help her out.
“No…I’m just shy around new people, I guess” she said as a faint blush spread on her cheeks and she tucked some hair behind her ear
