                                                        Chapter 24

                                                    A Royal Birthday

After the marvelous lunch we had, Nish and I were on my way to Ranima’s room. For the first time I wasn’t scared to meet someone from his family. The connection I had with her was unique, the only other time when I felt a similar connection with someone was when I met Nish.

Ranima’s room was down the hallway, on the way to her room, Nish showed me around a bit, he told me about all the paintings hung on the walls, and he also told me that this palace was actually built by his ancestors to provide employment to his subjects when a famine struck their empire. We finally reached Ranima’s room.

The minute I stepped into Ranima’s room and I stared at the room with my eyes wide. It was more than double the size of Nish’s room. I noticed that Ranima was reading a book in the other side of her room wearing her reading glasses.

“You sure you don’t want me to stay?” Nish asked me for the fifth time in the past fifteen minutes.

“Yes baby…now go!” I said shoving him towards the door. I turned around and walked towards Ranima, and sat on the bed next to her. I was wondering if I should say something and disrupt her reading when she spoke up.

“How are you dear? How was the food and stay?” Ranima asked me

“Very good, thank you your majesty.” I replied, at this she let out a short chuckle

“Don’t let the environment fool you little one! You don’t need to call me your majesty! You are like my own little granddaughter” she said slowly taking her reading glasses off
