Into the future [01]

So basically this chapter will be a flash forward, of life at Seattle Grace Hospital.

Meredith's POV
( Chief Webber's Meeting)

"This will probably not come as a surprise to most of you, I will be retiring by the end of the month" Dr. Richard Webber said. It actually really wasn't a surprise.

" I have decided to spend some time with my wife, Adele, who has early on set Alzheimer's."

"I have some pretty good Chief of Surgery candidates on my mind, but I will also bring in some competition from other hospitals."  Oh hell no! I deserve Chief of Surgery and no bum from any other hospital was taking my spot!

"Um, will all attendings be able to participate or will only some..." My best friend Christina Yang started to ask. Apparently we went to the same middle AND high school, but I never noticed her. We became close over are intern years, but more close as we became residents. I couldn't imagine her being Chief of Surgery, she was made for the OR, and doing paperwork would be a waste of her time.

"The new candidates will start working here ASAP so I can get a good look at them, but even when the Chief has been decided, they will still continue to work here"

"Okay so our first candidate from this hospital is.... Meredith Grey" I already knew I was a candidate, but I still felt proud as the small crowd of attendings applauded me.

Also as fate would have it, another high schooler, from my exact high school, was also working in SGH. Her name was Callie Torres, and let's just say, we have a very awkward friendship, thanks to a game of spin the bottle in high school.

"Now, onto our other candidates. A surgery college professor, at Harvard, Dr. Mark Sloan"

"The head of General Surgery at Hopkins, Dr. Isobel Stevens"

"And last but not least, one of my former students but also the head of Neuro at Mount Sinai, Dr. Derek Shepherd." When the chief uttered those sentences I almost fainted. I glanced at Christina and Callie, who both had a shocked expression on their faces.

This was highschool all over again

This was a nightmare

This was not good... at all

Instead of all the characters working in the same hospital I added some in. As the story goes on, other characters will appear. Some will not appear, cause that's just not realistic. And some will appear but not as surgeons. I'm trying to make the story as real as possible, but this is fan-fiction, hence the fiction. I will update soon, but keep the votes and comments coming!
