Chapter 27

"The last challenge..." My dad said as he stood infront of the two boys on the porch.

"Tonight, you're going to serenade my daughter. I don't care how you do it, just serenade her from down here, to her window way up there" He said, pointing at my window on the second floor. Both boys nodded.

"Make her feel special, she's my princess. Make her feel like a queen." He continued.

"See you tonight" My dad said and both boys scurried off.

"Dad?" I said as soon as he entered our house. "How do you.. how do you plan on choosing one of them for me? You do know I'll always choose Liam whatever happens, right?" I said and he laughed.

"I'm just seeing who'll do a greater job. Just something to help you choose, dear" He winked and left.

"Guess I'll just wait and see what will happen tonight.." I whispered to myself as I left to find something to take my mind off whatever is happening right now.

8:00pm

"Wise men say, only fools rush in"

Huh? Who's singing?

"But I can't help falling in love with you"

That voice..

"Shall I stay? Would be a sin?"

Liam?

"If I can't help, falling in love with you"

I went to my window, looked outside and proved myself right.

"Like a river flows, surely to the sea"

Liam was singing to me. Just me. Not to thousands of girls.

"Darling so it shows, some things are meant to be"

He was alone. Playing the guitar.

"Take my hand, take my whole life too"

He was singing his heart out. Eyes closed, and smiling to himself.

"For I can't help, falling in love with you.

He opens his eyes and looks at me. I was hypnotized by his voice and his eyes.

"Take my hand,"

He stops playing the guitar and reaches his hand out.

"Take my whole life too"

and places it on his heart.

"For I can't help falling in love with you"

He smiles at me.

Is it just me or his eyes are teary?

He strums the guitar one last time.

"Sa hindi inaaasahang"

Inigo...

"Pagtatagpo ng mga mundo"

I know that voice. I hear it everyday.

Inigo.. he's the reason I met Liam in person. I'm thankful for him. But he just..

I slowly got up from my position on the bed and went to the window.

"Ibinubunyag ka ng iyong mata
Sumisigaw ng pag-sinta"

He was alone too, also playing the guitar.

"Ba't di pa patulan
Ang pagsuyong nagkulang"

I can't...

"Tayong umaasang
Hilaga't kanluran"

We're worlds apart. Exactly.

"Ikaw ang hantungan
At bilang kanlungan mo
Ako ang sasagip saýo"

After doing that to the one I love?

"Saan nga ba patungo,
Nakayapak at nahihiwagaan"

His eyes are digging into mine. I can feel the intensity of his soft voice drumming in my ears.

"Ang bagyo ng tadhana ay
Dinadala ako sa init ng bisig mo"

I can't deny though.. I miss him.

"Ba't 'di pa sabihin
Ang hindi mo maamin"

And I won't lie.. that maybe I was falling for him too at some point.

"Ipa-uubaya na lang ba 'to sa hangin
huwag mong ikatakot"

But I was scared, scared to lose our friendship.

"Ang bulong ng damdamin mo
Naririto ako at nakikinig saýo"

How I wish it was still you.. How I wish things were that easy.

But I fell for someone else.

I can't control my feelings.
