Liam took me out again for breakfast and lunch.
We also walked around for awhile, going back to the places that meant the most to us. To me.
A few hours later, we went back to the hotel.
Liam rushes out in the hotel with my hand in his hand as we take the elevator going up.
The small space was filled with a comfortable silence only him and I would ever share.
The elevator stops at the 9th level and an old lovely couple comes in. We both smile at them and they smile at us.
"Do you mind if we go down first, love?" The old woman says and I immediately said yes as I pressed the "down" button on the elevator. Silence.
"You seem like a lovely couple" the old lady smiles at us and Liam and I shared a look. We're not dating, do we look like we are? I discreetly side eyed Liam and he was smiling slightly, like me.
We're not dating, but we will be... Someday. I let myself be caught in a little daydream before the Liam elbowed me slightly.
"Do I tell them we're not actually dating?" Liam asks and I nodded. "Of course. Why not?" I asked. "The idea of someone thinking that flatters me. I like it." Liam said. I raised my eyebrows at him. Seriously? He shrugged his shoulders in defeat and I laughed at him.
"Um, actually," Liam started. "We're not a coup-"
"Don't let her go, young man. She's the one." The Old Man says.
"How do you know?" I asked curiously.
"I feel it. I feel so much love. You love him, don't you?" The old man asked. I looked at Liam before nodding.
"And you, you love her. Right?" The woman smiled. Liam just nodded. The elevator dinged and the two piled out, leaving Liam and I inside. He pressed the top floor again and the elevator started moving.
"Did you just-"
"He said that-"
We both spoke at the same time, causing laughter to erupt from our mouths.
"He said that we looked like we were dating.." Liam said. "I agree, though." Liam continued. I didn't reply.
The elevator doors opened, and we were at the roof of the hotel. "Why are we here?" I asked. Liam put my hand in his.
"I just want to feel like I'm on top of the world with you, one last time." Liam said. "What do you mean?" I asked.
"I mean, one last time before I leave." He answered hurriedly. Oh.
"I forgot that you were leaving" I laughed, and my I felt my eyes getting teary. Oh no, not this again...
"No, Dianne don't cry not now please" Liam said and I shook my head. "I'm not going to cry there's just water... I my eyes." I said and Liam laughed at that.
"I'm just going to miss you so much" I said as I hugged Liam and we looked at the view beneath us.
I wish we could stay in this moment forever... Sadly, the world turns, people change, and life moves on. Nothing lasts forever.
"Liam, can you promise me something before you go?" I tell Liam. "Anything, babe." Liam answers. Anything...
"Promise me you'll co-"
I was cut off by the elevator sounds.
I checked the time. 6:00pm
"You were saying?" Liam asked. "Nothing." I reassured him.
We sat down on the floor with our backs against the building as we watched the sun go down and the little lights of the city replace it.
"Don't forget about me" I said. Liam laughed. "I would never." He answered.
I leaned my head on his shoulder and slowly felt sleep come over me.
"I love you, Dianne. Always and forever." Liam whispered.
