“How did you do that?” Monique said, freaking out.
“Do what?” Alex said.
“Do that!” Monique pointed at the paper in front of Alex.
“The what?” Two hands up for Alex, still not getting the point.
Monique sighed with frustration and sat down on the bench beside me.
“Reese?” Monique asked while getting her phone from her bag.
“Yeah?” I said, looking up from the papers spread out in front of me.
“Never mind,” She said then to Alex “Alex?”
“Yup?” she faced Monique.
“Do me a favor will you?”
“And what is that?” She crosses her hands at the table.
“I need you to ask Sir Cliff to pass me up in English,” Alex was about to argue but Monique bet her “And I would help you.”
“You’re going to help her in what?” I blurted out.
“In her studies, of course,”
“In her studies?” I repeated her question.
She looks at me. “Of course!” And turn her attention on her phone.
“And what subject is that?” Alex asked whatever is in my mind.
“Anything,” She shrug, eyes on phone.
Alex checked her watch “Oh, shot! I got to go,” She grabs her things and the papers I’m holding
“Hey! I’m not done yet!” but she just wave the paper and walk away.
“Okay, that’s weird,” Monique suddenly said.
“What’s weird?” I asked confuse.
“Oh nothing,” She said, grabbing her bag “See you later?” She kisses on my check and turn to leave.
Sure they are both weird. Those are my best buds, Alex and Monique. Those two seldom get along. Monique has brown eyes, shoulder-length brown hair and tan complexion while Alex, has black eyes, fair complexion and a hair as black as night and it reaches up to her underarms.
Both girls play sports, Monique in Track and Field while Alex does Tchoukball, it’s a ball game played 30 years ago, but they differ in some ways. They both don’t have the same taste when it comes to boys. Monique prefers guys like Green Lantern in Justice League or which she just don’t know what exactly her type. Alex on the other hand prefers guys that are athletic and sort-of the real ideal man a girl wants.
In studies, Alex really excels more than Monique. In the scale of five, five the smartest. Monique would be in two and Alex would be in three.
Thus both really won’t get along. Both girls love to eat, watch TV, shopping and sleeping. That’s how I also get along with them.
Not because I somehow had both of their features. I had Alex’s complexion, Monique’s brown eyes, Alex’s hair length and Monique’s hair color. People even thought I’m their sister.
The three of us had this bond that even I don’t have the guts to ruin it. Monique’s strong personality and Alex’s bubbly aura make me the one in the middle, preventing them to fight.
“Hi, Reese!” Ally greeted me and sat at the seat of Alex.
“Hey, Ally,” I greeted trying hard not to be rude in front of her. “No school?”
