Chapter 2

It took me what seemed like forever to reach  the 'Welcome to Montana' sign, I smiled in relief as I drove right on through. I sensed a feeling of being watched; I have a special sixth sense, I can make out a species by just a feeling. For example, If a vampire is in a ten mile radius of my current location then I can sense that they are there. Although, I've never come across any supernatural being and I don't plan too that is exactly what I was sensing.

Of all places, why did I chose Montana?

You have a special sense of darkness when it is near you my child, there is nothing for you to fear what you know is already there. In the age old saying of 'everything happens for a reason' just like you chose your own reason to follow your own path.

I smiled at the memory of my Sensei saying that to me, I was nine when I was taught that and I find it popping up in my concious frequently. I still regret my decision but it is the farthest away from my checklist of 'I'm most wanted' states; Therefore, it will have to do.

I arrived in Hardin, Montana and decided to stay at a motel for the remainder of the night. I needed some type of space. Might as well indulge, consider this, if you have lived well over a thousand years would you have alot of money? The answer is Yeah! Of course, I even have ancient coins that museums would give me an arm and a leg to obtain and that was regular currency in my day.

I checked into a Super 8 with my Visa and rented a one-night stay for forty-five dollars, It's not as cheep as a Red Roof Inn like the ones I am used too but It was the first one I saw and I'm both hungry and tired.

I parked my shiny, black '67 beauty in front of my room and walked into the cafetaria where they were serving breakfast at five in the morning. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and eggs with bacon on the side, along with a French Vanilla cappuccino.

I sensed then before I saw them, I was just about finished with my cappuccino when I looked to my right to find four very built and muscular guys making their way towards me.

Everybody can see and smell fear, the more you show any emotion in the face of the unknown the faster anxiety and helplessness rears itself in the shadows of the good.

I mentally thanked my Sensei again. I placed my empty mug on the tray and leaned back casually in my chair.

Make no moves to show you are superior, for if you do then those around you will feel challanged to show their own wisdom and strength.

I thought twice about crossing my arms, apparently nowadays that shows authority. Instead I just rested them on the table. I eyed the four men as they grabbed chairs and scattered them around the table; two across from me and one on either side of me.

I studied their features, the two on either side of me were twins with blonde hair and blue eyes; the other two weren't related as one had brown hair and green eyes and the other had black hair and..red? eyes. None of them radiated power, so I assumed they weren't of much importance? Wrong. Never, ever assume.

The brown head leaned forward and reasted his arms on the table "We know that you know what we are, you are currently trespassing on Adrasteia Pack territory and by Alpha Will's orders we are to.." he paused looking for the right term "escort, if you would call it that, you back to our pack house in Augusta. Now, depending on how you answer this will determine your mode of transportation. Why are you here?" All four of them regarded me with unease.

That's the age old question isn't it. Why are we here? I have no idea how to answer that, why do I have to be here for any purpose at all? Can't I just exist? I leaned forward just as he did and placed my arms on the table and looked straight into his eyes.

"Let me introduce myself, as you so kindly did not. My name is Andromeda, its a pleasure to meet you. I had no idea, actually, that your pack's territory stretched this far; You must be quite powerful then. I'm here because I chose to be here, I'm not here for a specific purpose, I simply would say I'm a nomad. If you would call it that." I mocked his earlier words. " Now, does that answer determine my..hmm, mode of transportation. Because if not then doesn't that just suck for you." I leaned back and this time I crossed my arms. His face softened as he leaned back too.

"My name is Bran, short for Brandon. The two boneheads next to you are Logan and Elijah, we are werewolves and the dude next to me is Hunter. He is a-" I cut off Brandon.

"Vampire." I stated simply and they all looked at me confused except for Hunter himself.

"How do you know I am a Vampire?" he questioned and smirked, strangely we both already knew the answer to that one.

"Your eyes. You also seem different, more relaxed and observent. Your name fits you well, Hunter." I stated as I watched his posture, he was almost laying on the chair and his arms were crossed and his head was cocked slightly to the side as he studied me and listened to our conversation.

"Thank you, most people only say the eyes. That is, those who know of us." He slid his eyes up and down me as much as he could see at the moment. I couldn't tell if he found me attractive or if he was still being observant.

"Anyways, were you planning on staying here or passing through?" Brandon questioned.

"Actually I was going to stay in Augusta.. Now, however I can see you are growing suspicious so I guess that Hardin will have to do." I grimaced looking around. It's not that I was disappointed. It just wasn't what I was looking forward too..

"Nonsense, you can gladly settle down in Augusta if you favor that rinky-dink small town." Hunter exclaimed, much to the distaste of Brandon.

"What? How-" Brandon started to object when Hunter cut him off and glared at him sideways.

"It would even give us a better chance to keep an eye on you." Hunter emphasized the eye, looking forward to watching over me? I yawned. I'm getting to tired for my liking and when I'm tired, I'm upset. All four of them must have noticed to because they were now eager to wrap up our 'meeting'.

"If we leave now we can be at Augusta by noon." Elijah, the one to my right, suddenly spoke up and I mentally cursed him. The other three didn't see a reason why we couldn't.

"Sorry, no." I said standing up and grabbing my tray, In a split second I felt Hunter standing right behind me. Between me and the door. I grew annoyed and shoved the tray at him.

"Listen a'ight, It is now" I looked at my watch "six in the morning, I'm cranky and I'm tired. I spent two days driving from New York to here in hopes of sleeping on a nice bed. Now, unless you plan on paying me forty-five dollars and own an RV then I intend to sleep in the room I rented out. I don't care if you spy on me with a telescope or rent the room next to mine. But goodnight, or should I say goodmorning, I'm going to sleep and don't you dare touch my car. Thank you." I huffed as I rushed out of the cafeteria and to my room.

I grabbed my necessities out of my back seat; my hairbrush, toothbrush, etc. I arranged everything the way I wanted and fell into a deep sleap as soon as my head hit the pillow.
