//December 10, 2029. Defendant Lobby No. 5, 9:38 AM//

I played with my hair silently while waiting for Niamh and Yuri to arrive. They still weren't here and the trial started in twenty minutes!

I started thinking about the case. The victim was a defense attorney killed at the agency... I wonder if Mr. Morix knew her. I had never heard of anybody by the name of Eileen Liyle. I'll ask Niamh about it when she shows up.

As if hearing my thoughts, Niamh and Yuri walked into the lobby. Yuri skipped up to me. "Good morning!" the younger girl grinned.

"H-hey..." I didn't know how to bring up the subject of the victim, but now was better than never, even if now was slightly out of the blue. "Could I ask you a question about the victim?"

"Sure," Niamh said.

"Did you guys know her?" I asked.

"No... But judging by the fact that he was crying at the crime scene yesterday, Anton knew her," Yuri replied. "I'm not sure how they knew each other, but it seems that they did."

"We'll have to ask him about it after the trial," Niamh suggested.

"Defense! Defendant! Proceed to the courtroom now!" a bailiff instructed.

"That's our cue," I told them, forcing a small smile. "Good luck."

Both girls nodded and we walked into the courtroom, unaware of what danger this trial would end on.

//December 10, 2029. Courtroom No. 5, 10:00 AM//

"Court is now in session for the trial of Lily Shield," the judge announced after banging his gavel. "Are the defense and prosecution ready?"

"The prosecution is ready," Prosecutor Bloom nodded.

"The defense is also ready," Niamh agreed.

"Very good. Prosecutor Bloom, your opening statement?" the judge asked.

"Alright. The crime took place yesterday in the early hours of the morning. The victim was at Morix Law Offices when a person came in, hit her in the right temple with a small statue, strangled her by hand, and gave her a severe cut on her left arm. The culprit was wearing gloves during all of this, so their fingerprints are not present on the one weapon left at the scene, the statue. It is also noted that the statue was used to attack four other individuals. The culprit of all cases was never found, and we believe the culprit of these assaults to be the defendant, as she never had an alibi for any of the crimes. That sum it up well enough?" Prosecutor Bloom finished, pushing some hair away from her face with a smirk.

"That does seem rather decisive," the judge agreed. "Now, call your first witness."

"I call Detective Abilene Umber to the witness stand to testify on the details of the case!" Prosecutor Bloom announced.

Detective Umber was up there in a flash. She was playing with her hair, as if dazed by the case at hand for some odd reason. "Before you ask, I'm Abilene Umber. Lead detective on this case."

Prosecutor Bloom let out an irritated sigh. "Just tell us the details on the case."

WITNESS TESTIMONY: ABILENE UMBER- DETAILS ON THE CASE

-The victim was attacked in Morix Law Office.

-She was hit in the head with a small statue, strangled by hand, and scratched in the hand.

-The statue was left at the scene of the crime while the scratch weapon, a glass shard, was taken by the culprit.

-The body was moved into a hidden evidence room of the local prison.

-Not many knew of this room, and since one of them happened to be the defendant, she's the only one capable of committing this crime!

"There were so many contradictions in that..." Yuri shook her head. "I don't even know where to start."

"Allow me to begin the cross-examination, Your Honor," Niamh smirked.

"Go right ahead," the judge said with a nod. His beard went all bouncy when he did this.

CROSS-EXAMINATION: ABILENE UMBER- DETAILS ON THE CASE

-The victim was attacked in Morix Law Office.

-She was hit in the head with a small statue, strangled by hand, and scratched in the hand.

-The statue was left at the scene of the crime while the scratch weapon, a glass shard, was taken by the culprit.

-The body was moved into a hidden evidence room of the local prison.

-Not many knew of this room, and since one of them happened to be the defendant, she's the only one capable of committing this crime!

"OBJECTION!"

"I have found not one, but two contradictions in the witness' testimony," Niamh announced. "First of all, the weapon of the scratch wound on the victim's arm was never found. How did the witness know it was a glass shard?"

"I've... Seen a wound like that and it was made by glass..." Detective Umber replied. I rubbed my Magatama. She was lying. But why? She didn't seem like a probable culprit.

"And secondly, there is only one way to get into the evidence room: through a sensor in the wall. That sensor only allows four individuals inside, including Chief Prosecutor Ghastly Bespoke, his adopted daughter, Niamh Wood, my partner, Yuri Rinko, and one other girl who hasn't been seen since this case began. None of them are the defendant, as you can see," Niamh continued. "Therefore, it is impossible for the defendant to have moved the body!"

"How did you come to that conclusion about Niamh and Chief Prosecutor Bespoke?" Yuri asked her quietly.

"If your eye scar, about the same length as the owner of the room, also known as Chrysalis, worked, than the two of them should be able to get in as well," Niamh replied.

"Do you think... That one of them is the culprit?!" Yuri gasped.

I shook my head. "I never said that."

I noticed that Prosecutor Bloom had gone rather pale. With a clear of her throat, the spoke again. "I wish to call my next witness."

"Go right ahead," the judge nodded.

"I call Razi Lesa to the witness stand!" Prosecutor Bloom exclaimed, finger pointing at the witness stand.

But the one thing that bothers me is that if only those four could get into the evidence room, than which one of them is the culprit?
