"That was fun," Niall held the door open for Lincoln as the pair walked out of the animal shelter. Lincoln nodded her head in agreement, it was pretty fun. She had to give Niall props for being creative in picking volunteering at an animal shelter for their date. Since the restaurant Niall was talking about was only a block away, they decided they would just walk there.Niall held onto her hand, staying close to her as they walked down the block.
"How long are you and the boys going to be staying in New York for?" Lincoln asked out of curiosity.
Niall frowns slightly, suddenly remembering he and the boys were on tour, which meant he would be traveling again.
"We're actually in New York for three more days then we're heading to New Jersey for two days. Our last show is in Maine." He runs a hand through his hair.
"Oh." Lincoln mumbles a little disappointed. She almost forgot that he was a celebrity and wouldn't be in the town for long. Parker would surely be devastated when he learned that Niall would be leaving soon.
"I'm sorry, I didn't tell you. I didn't want to ruin anything we may have had going on." Niall admits, looking down at her. This was the truth, Niall didn't want to ruin their day. He wanted to spend as much time with Lincoln and Parker for as much as he could before they would travel to the next state. "Come with me," Niall suddenly suggested. Lincoln looked up at him shaking her head.
"Niall you can't ask me to do that. I have a job here and rent to pay. Parker is still in school. I can't just get up and decide to take a vacation from everything." She tells him being realistic. She couldn't just go with him. Sure he was nice and everything, but they really didn't know each other too well.
Niall looks down at the ground. He shouldn't have asked that of her.
"Don't worry about it Niall, we'll talk about this some other time." Lincoln grabs his hand, just in time as they had now arrived to the restaurant. The pair walked in, greeted by the host.
"Table for two, please," Niall told the host. At this point the few people in the restaurant had now started to watch both Lincoln and Niall.
"Here is your table Mr. Horan, can we start you off with anything? Drinks? Appetizers?" The hosts asks, handing them their menus. Lincoln felt a little weird, she was so use to being the one to serve people, not the other way around. Niall looks to Lincoln, wanting her to pick the appetizer.
"Uh, can we get the Nachos please," Lincoln tells the hosts.
"And drinks?""
"Can I get the Elvis," Niall requests sitting up in his chair. Lincoln asks for a glass of water with lemon.
"Hey, I've been meaning to ask you this for a long time, please don't take offense to it, but where is Parker's father?" Niall suddenly asks. Lincoln freezes in her seat, her eyes glazing over. Niall sensing he had upset her, quickly grabbed her hand, rubbing his thumb along the back of her hand. "I'm sorry, don't answer that," he tries to comfort her. Lincoln sniffles wiping away a fallen tear. "Don't cry," Niall frowns. Wait to go Niall, he thought to himself.
"Sorry," Lincoln grabs a napkin dabbing at her eyes, "It's a touchy subject, b-but I want you to know everything I guess..." She takes in a breath preparing herself for all his questions. Niall looks at her, making sure she was okay with all of this. Lincoln nodded her head, wanting him to continue.
"Is Parker mixed?" Niall decides to ask her instead. Lincoln nods her head yes, anyone with a brain can tell that Parker was not fully African American. His blue eyes, pale skin, and dark brown curly hair was a dead giveaway.
"Parker is part Cuban and Italian." Lincoln whispers, a image of Parker's father flashing through her head. Parker took on more of his father's genes, the only thing he inherited from Lincoln was her laugh, smile, and big ears.
"Does Parker's father know about him?" Niall asks another questions, he was being careful about what he was saying because he did not want to upset her too much.
"Yes, he does." Was Lincoln's simple response. Niall observed her reaction, he decided he was just going to ask one more question about Parker's father.
"Are you keeping Parker from his father?" Niall wonders. Lincoln choked a little as she opened her mouth, not finding any words coming out. "Lincoln?"
"I'm not doing it on purpose," she manages to say, "I have probable reason," she sniffles. Niall looks at her and makes the conclusion to stop asking her questions about Parker's mysterious father.
"Do you have any family in New York? I never hear you talk about them." Niall taps on the table. Its not that he was prying into her life, he just wanted to know her more.
Lincoln shook her head no, "I don't know my family. I've been on my own ever since I was 15 when I ran away from my foster home," She says softly, looking up to see his reaction. Niall furrowed his brows.
"Wow, you must have had a tough life," He couldn't imagine being in foster care, not having his parents and then five years later a single parent. He had to applaud her though for being able to take care of herself. Lincoln nods her head, watching their waitress bring over their appetizers. Niall smiles at the plate of nachos. His stomach growling loudly.
Lincoln giggles softly, hiding her smile behind her hand. Niall grins, reaching for one of the nachos. The cheese stretched as he pulled the chip from the pile. He shoved the nacho into his mouth, closing his eyes at the flavor in his mouth.
"So good," he smiles grabbing a napkin. Lincoln takes on of the nachos on the platter, popping it into her mouth. She chewed it, taking a sip of her water after. Niall was right, these had to be the best nachos she ever had.
"Do you live in Ireland or L.A like most celebrities?" Lincoln grabs another nacho. Niall wipes his fingers on his napkin, shaking his head.
"I live in Ireland, but being in the band I travel a lot. I do have a condo in L.A, which I rarely go to." Niall tells her taking a sip of his drink.
"How is it in Ireland?" She looks up at him. Niall smiles, clapping his hands together. He loved talking about his country.
"Oh it's absolutely stunning there. Ireland is kind of like the country side, everywhere you turn is nature. Most of the people there are really friendly and the food is the best," He tells her with a huge grin. Lincoln smiles softly, nodding her head, listening to everything he way saying.
"Maybe one day you can come visit," Niall rests his hands on the table.
"Maybe."
