Poem- Old Friend

Old friend,

What happened to us?

It used to be so easy to get along with you.

We would talk for hours.

Pull all nighters and be the first ones to say 'good morning' in the early hours.

What happened to us?

We could tell each other everything.

Have weird conversations,

Make personal connections,

Start fights that led to nothing.

Now, you talk to me and it leads to nothing.

Old friend,

What happened to us?

I could hug you and feel your brotherly love.

You could hold me and I could pretend it was just me in your eyes.

We could get along so well.

So,

What happened to us,

Old friend?

I know what happened.

I felt us breaking when I heard she was practically saying,

"Baby, I can't sleep without you anymore."

I said I was happy when I really wasn't.

Then,

You ditched me for her and sent me those pictures of how happy you were,

How she "completed" you.

I know what happened.

I was comforted by a friend and cried when I got home.

I drank a little and eased up a little.

I know what happened.

I pretended like I was fine,

Put on a brave face and looked like a dime.

I forgot about you and you forgot about me.

You stopped texting me,

I stopped texting you.

I know what happened!

But you never will.

I wish you would stop talking to me,

Pretending like everything's okay.

You probably think I'm doing alright.

When the truth is I've lost my will to fight.

It doesn't help that you only call me when you're bored,

When I'm doing my work to get good scores.

I'm not your entertainer.

I'm not your experiment.

Hell,

I don't think you can call me your friend again.

*A/N: Hey whoever is reading this, can you tell me how I did? This is only the second poem I've completed so I'm still super rusty. Did you like it? By the way, if you've gotten this far or if you're skipping around, thanks for reading this book.
