~~~This is gospel for the vagabonds, ne'erdowells, and insufferable bastards~~~
"...why weren't you hurt?"
The second those words left Tadashi's lips, you found you couldn't meet his eyes.
"(Y/N), what happened?" He kept prodding you for answers, but you didn't want to give them to him.
"It's not important." Lie. "Now come on and help me walk to your house." Despite being desperate for answers--curious little bastard--Tadashi rushed over to you, wrapping your arm around his shoulders and picking you up. Still as sweet and considerate as usual.
Tadashi worked as your crutch, walking you over to the nearby Lucky Cat Café. Inside, there was a note on the table. It read:
Tadashi,
Hiro asked me to pick him up from the library. I'll be back soon, but this is just in case I don't get back in time. Love you!
Cass
You sighed lightly in relief. Maybe you could find a way out of this one. When you made it to the steps, you glanced at Tadashi. He was looking at you with his brow furrowed, the way he did when he was thinking. Then suddenly, he swept you up off the floor and into his arms. You yelped.
"Tadashi! What in the name of--"
"I just needed to get you up the steps, sorry." Tadashi smiled sheepishly. You expected him to set you down next to the dining table, but he kept going up to his and Hiro's bedroom.
He let you down next to Hiro's office chair--one of the spinny ones you liked. Tadashi pulled his hat off of his head and threw it into his sectioned off room, and plopped down on Hiro's bed. There was a moment of heavy silence before he spoke.
"(Y/N), tell me everything."
At first, you wanted to say no, but then you looked in his eyes. Warm brown eyes seemed to swallow you whole, and you felt everything you were afraid of telling him melt away. He was looking at you with pure trust and concern in his eyes.
You sighed.
"I don't remember most of it," you began, wrapping your arms around yourself self-consciously. "I mostly remember news articles that told what I did. My school bus collided with a semi truck, and there was a kid stuck. Apparently I went to help him, but there was explosion and I lost my right leg," you swallowed thickly. You took a deep breath before continuing.
"Really what I remember is a rush of adrenaline and then a really bright flash and then 'poof'," you said, gesturing with your hands, "I woke up in the hospital a week later with 25% of my limbs missing."
Tadashi stared at you openmouthed. You could feel your eyes starting to tear up. You hated when people looked at you like a whole different person when they found out about your disability.
Before you could open your mouth to say something, Tadashi had jumped up from the bed and enveloped you in a hug.
"...Tadashi?" You whispered into his ear. His face was buried in your neck, arms around your waist.
"I guess we're even now, huh?" He mumbled against your neck.
"H-Huh?" You asked, trying not to shiver. His lips moving against your neck tickled.
"I said," Tadashi said, pulling away from your neck to look you in the eye, "that we're even now. That little boy you saved?" Tadashi had a bittersweet smile on his face.
"That was me."
~BONUS~
Hiro and Cass walked into the café, expecting for Tadashi to call out to them since the note they'd left was moved. Instead, they heard distant mumblings from the boys' shared bedroom.
"You should go check on your brother, Hiro," Cass said. Hiro nodded and padded up the stairs. He stopped just outside the door when he heard a feminine giggle.
"Hahaha, Tadashi~! Cut it out, that tickles!" He heard you laugh. He peeked through the crack in the door to see you still sitting in his desk chair, the top of your shoulders bare as Tadashi kissed up and down them.
Hiro choked on the sarcastic remark he was about to make and awkwardly walked back downstairs, informing Cass that Tadashi had brought his girlfriend home again.
Tadashi's so cute :'^) So here's a development chapter! I hope you guys liked it, since I wrote it on the way back from All-State Choir as I was dead ass tired and trying to rush home to go trick or treating.
(I went as Xion and carried around my keyblade. It was the shit.)
