Chapter 35

I sat on the couch with my arms folded on top of my chest.

"We're sorry Gene." Kuya Jarid said looking at Gene whose beside me.

"I just... I can't see you as my brother-in-law kaya ko ginawa yon." He even added.

"I understand." Gene said smiling genuinely.

"Pero tol, maniwala ka. hindi dahil kay Chloe kaya ko sinabi sayo yung mga bagay na yun." Then Jarid took a sip from his coffee.

"Sorry din Ranielle, we kept my daughter a secret from you." Gene said looking straight at my eyes

"Okay lang... kahit medyo unfair." I smiled at him. "Wait, kuya... ano bang sinabi mo kay Gene bakit ka nag so-sorry sakanya?" I suddenly felt curious about it. Yon yung time na pinalabas ako ni Mrs. Diaz ng office right? Gene and Jarid talked and after that everything happened.

"Wala... samin na lang yon ni Gene. Pati okay naman na kayo eh. Wag mo ng isipin yon." He looks at Gene and Gene smiles at him as if they've been connected through brain.

"Eh Eugene, kelan ka pa nag ka-feelings kay baby sis namin?" Jayron asked which made me spill my coffee from the edges of my mouth.

"Oh? Okay ka lang?" Gene asked tapping my shoulder. I suddenly remember Drake. When he taps my back too.

I nodded my head helping myself  to clean up my mess.

"Hindi ko alam kung paano nag start yung feelings ko kay Ranielle eh. Basta narealize ko na lang may kakaiba na."  Gene explained which made me feel embarassed.

"Ayieee." Jayron teased us.

"Kuya." I frowned at him.

"Responsible naman talaga si Gene baby sis. Natakot lang kami na baka kunin kana nya agad samin. Matanda na kasi yan eh. Alam mo na." Jayron joked.

"Kuya naman." I'm still  trying to put the topic down.

"Game ulit tayo ah? Every weekends." Jayron said in a cheerful tone.

"Diba aalis na si Ranielle?" Gene said suddenly while looking at my side.

"Oo nga. Hindi na balance ang team pag ganun." Jarid uttered.

I looked at Gene too. I'm still finding something in his eyes. Something I'm sure was there before. Something I always wanted to look at.

I smiled at everybody.

"Pwede naman dumaan si Drake dito diba?" I said without looking at Gene. I don't want to see his reaction. I'm too scared to look at it.

"Oo nga. Lagi naman nandito yun eh. Balance na ulit ang players." Jayron said while munching some cheetos in his mouth.

Really this guys. Parte na talaga ng buhay nila ang NBA.

"Magtuturo ulit ako but in another school." Gene turned to me.

"Good." I smiled at him.

"Sorry to cause you trouble Ranielle..." He then turned his eyes on the lamp beside the T.V. "Pwede ba tayo mag-usap dalawa?"

"Sige." I got up from my seat and went outside. Sumunod naman agad si Gene.

"Ranielle..." he said while slowly facing me.

He looked at me like I was some sort of precious diamond. Too rare to touch. The only thing you can do is to look at it.

He leaned on the wall with his back against it. He's 2 meters away from me.

"You know what? I think there are portals in this world na pag pumasok ka doon, it will lead you to another world." He suddenly said. His hands are in his pockets. He's standing like someone whose as high as a skyscraper.

"Portals?" I asked with my body leaning on the balcony fence.

"Like school for example. When you enter the school gate it leads you to another world. Because for people who can't go to school it is another world. Far beyond from their world." He explained.

"Tulad din ng Pizza Hut. Pag pasok mo sa glass door ng pizza hut hindi mo alam nakapasok ka na din sa ibang mundo. Because there are also people who can't be there. Because it's also another world for them. It is not their world." He pressed his lips together.

"So... what do you want me to know?" I said keeping my eyes at him.

"Naranasan ko rin kasi yun." He sighed. "Nung iniwan kita... nung umalis ako sa School. I lost my portal back to you." He gave me a sad eyes. Eyes with tears on it's edges.

"Pag nakikita kita specially with Drake... I thought... you're in another world, far beyond my reach. A world without portal." He remove his hands from his pockets and then he walks right straight to me.

"Ranielle... I want to be in your world again." He reached for my right hands and placed something in my palm.

"Can we start over again?" He closed my hands and kissed it.

I could not breathe. I don't know what to say. But I'm sure I've thought of this thing a hundred times bago ko pa sya dalhin dito sa bahay, I knew what to say.

I opened my hand and saw the gift he gave for my birthday. It's lying in my palms as if it's asking me to be a part of me again. Just like Gene.
