Saving our Luna

This chapter, and pretty much the book is dedicated to my best friend Becca_F, who has helped me rename chapters, gave me inspiration and kept me focused on getting this chapter up! I woke up groggily with a pounding headache.

It was already dark outside the window, that I just happened to notice had bars on the outside of it.

I growled and tried to thump my fists on the bed, to no avail. My hands had been cuffed to the bedposts.

I tried shifting to get out of them, but I felt trapped. 'There's wolfsbane,' my wolf told me. Her voice sounded really raspy and she sounded like she was in pain.

"Are you ok?" I asked her worriedly.

'I can deal.' She replied.

Just then, I heard the most angelic sound I possible could at that moment. 'Thank God! Lilly are you ok?' I heard shane ask me.

Tears of joy formed in my eyes at hearing my mates voice in my mind. 'I'm ok babe.' I replied.

I heard him sigh in relief. 'Baby, I've been going out of my mind...not knowing if you were ok, it was killing me.' Shane told me honestly.

I loved how he was so honest with me, how he inky showed me his vulnerable side.

'I know,' I cried, letting the tears fall freely. 'I miss you so much.'

I felt a hand softly caress my face. "Shh baby, don't cry. I'm coming for you. We all are.'

Before I had time to respond, I heard a quiet knock on the door before a girl a few years younger than me poked her head in.

She kept her gaze lower than mine and bared her neck in respect. "I apologise for disturbing you Luna, but Alpha Jeremy has asked me to come and help you prepare for the bonding ceremony. My name is Megan."

I growled at her, causing her to cower. I imagine if she was in her wolf form her tail would be between her legs.

'Lilly, what's happening?' Shane asked, feeling the sudden intense change in my emotions.

'He's sent someone to help me get ready for the "bonding ceremony"'

I heard a growl in my mind, followed by quite a few expletives. 'Shit! Shit shit shit shit shit!' He cursed.

After a few more seconds he regained himself. 'Ok Lilly. I need you to stall. Do whatever you have to. We're only a few more hours away from you and the rest of my pack are too.'

'Ok,' I replied. 'I need to go do some stalling then. Be with me Shane,' I told him.

'Always,' He said and I could feel the press of his lips against my forehead. 'Remember, I love you.'

I turned towards the young girl, Megan. She still stood in the doorway, looking frightened.

"Luna, I assure you, I mean no harm." She said quietly.

"I'm not your Luna." I told her.

Ok, don't judge. I know she's only fourteen, fifteen max. But its not my fault I was feeling quite hostile at the minute. I know its not her fault, but still.

"But you are Alpha Jeremy's mate-" Megan began but I growled at her.

"No. I'm. Not." She looked up at me then with the question written all over her face. I sighed at patted the bed beside me, indicating for her to sit down. "My own father, and my Alpha, arranged for me to be sent here, to be your Alpha's mate. But I already have a mate."
