Jenna, Megan and I were coming down the stairs when I heard a commotion coming from the grand hall to our right.
Suddenly, Jeremy ran out threw the doors, slamming them behind him. "Quickly Luna, we must get you to safety. We are being ambushed by a large pack."
He ran towards us and tried to take my hand from Megan's grasp, but I snatched it away from him.
"But of course you're being ambushed. That is the consequence of taking an Alpha's mate."
I watched Jeremy's eyes widen in horror as the large front door came down and in the space where it once was, now stood seven snarling wolves.
I recognised Logan's brown wolf, the second largest. The biggest of them all, and the one snarling the most ferociously, was jet black, and I would recognise those glowing blue eyes anywhere.
"Shane," I breathed. My wolf purred at the nearness of her mate.
I dropped both girls hands and began to run to him, only to be stopped by a strong arm around my waist.
"Stop Lilly, they might be rogues." Jeremy said, still holding my waist.
I heard Shane growl louder, but he would not make a move against Jeremy whilst I was near him.
"Let go of me." I snarled.
Shane took a menacing step towards him, the rest of the pack followed suit.
"Let her go." Shane said, although it was hard to make out among all the growling.
I kicked out at Jeremy, breaking his hold on me enough to run to my pack.
Shane nudged his head against my shoulder, taking a deep breath in.
'I missed you so much,' He told me.
I rubbed my hands over his fur. 'I missed you too,' I said, before kissing his nose and walking to stand beside Logan.
Logan, Camron, Becca, Lindsey and their mates all nudged their heads against me, welcoming me home.
Logan came and shadowed me as Jeremy came a step closer.
"Phase." He tried to command Shane.
Shane barked out a wolfy laugh. 'Seriously?' He said through the link.
Lindsey and becca came up and flanked me while the other guys went and stood with Shane.
They stood and stared at each other for a while, waiting for something. Once the screams in the grand hall had diminished, the doors opened once again and more wolves of our pack spilled out.
I heard the soft fall of footprints behind me. Glancing back, I saw lines and lines of wolves from our pack and some from the Densil pack. There must have been over two hundred wolves here in total.
'Three and a half, actually' Shane told me.
After all of the wolves came out of the grand hall, I was able to see in. I gasped at what I saw.
There was blood everywhere, and the bodies of dead wolves. There were maybe ten wolves still living, most likely female.
Logan shifted in front of me, while two pack mates stood beside Logan, stopping him from retreating.
"We came here to get our Luna. If you were half the alpha you claim to be, you would have stayed in that hall to help your pack, not ran away as we killed each male in our path." He said. "Your unmated females survive as we will not kill a potential mate."
I was glad they had thought of that. Logan then looked to Jenna and Megan who were still standing on the stairs, trying to look invisible.
"Are these two femmes mated?" He asked Jeremy.
"No," I answered. "And as Luna they have permission to join the Northern Pack." I waved the girls over and they came over to stand with me quickly.
I noticed both Logan and Camron followed them with their eyes, and I saw their ears perk up. I shook my head. There's plenty of time to deal with that later.
Jeremy laughed without humour. "So what, you kill my entire pack, and now take my females?"
Logan shook his head. "No. As our Luna said, these girls are joining our pack, of their own choice. The rest of your females will have the choice to join any pack, or become rogues."
"She's not your Luna," I heard one female shout from the hall.
Shane growled and inclined his head in the direction of the hall where some more females had started shouting abuse at Logan. A few wolves broke off from the pack and followed the voices.
Soon they were silenced. I hung my head, thinking that it would be a great loss. The darkness would soon consume many males without being able to find their mates.
"And what of these females Luna, are you sure they will stay loyal to you?"
I growled. "Of course they will. I trust them."
Logan nodded, accepting my answer. "And now to deal with the biggest problem." He said before turning to Jeremy.
Shane snarled and took a step forward before shifting. He gave my hand a tight squeeze and a huge smile before going to Jeremy.
"It is one of the biggest crimes among our race to steal anothers mate. I should've killed you on sight."
I have to give it to Jeremy, he tried to hold shane's eyes for a bit, but failed and submitted.
"What made it worse is that you took an Alpha's mate, knowing she was mated. You don't deserve a quick and easy death." Shane told him, sounding really menacing.
Jeremy took a step forward. "I don't think so."
"And why's that?" Shane growled.
"Because I'm invoking the right of a challenge."
