"This is impossible, impossible!" Old Unyo kept on muttering to himself as he and the two unclaimed demigods were rushing away from the Village Archive. He quickened his steps, almost a run, leaving the two kids behind him. He reached the Governor's Office in lesser time than he usually did.

"You look dreadful, Unyo." A Sigbin greeted Old Unyo when he entered the door. But he was in a hurry he never had the time to absorb the words his friend said to him. He went directly to the golden door at the rear side, without any knocking, he entered the room.

"Oh? Unyo? What are you doing here? It's too early to work." Maria Makiling said sweetly. Glowing butterflies were around her, fluttering lively.

"Disaster, Maria." Old Unyo said in a fearful whisper. His knees were shaking slightly.

Maria Makiling stood up. She lifted the lower end of her long skirt and walked closer to Old Unyo. The butterflies followed her. Her face was emptied of emotions.

"Adlaw's gift, Lapu-Lapu's medallion, someone stole it from the Archive." Old Unyo looked like dying as his mouth gave away every words.

Maria Makiling's face turned gray. "You called the Village Guards?"

"Not yet." Old Unyo looked sheepish. He felt stupid, panicking first instead doing the standard procedure. "I'm sorry, I--"

"No matter." Maria Makiling looked like inviting the butterflies to come near her, they crowded his face. "Return to your posts, seal the village boundaries." The butterflies flew up in the air and disappeared.

"Who do you supposed it could be?" Old Unyo's shaking get stronger.

"We have to know. Lapu-Lapu's medallion was one of the powerful instruments the heavenly beings had given to human. This is not a very light happening. We should move now." Maria Makiling's usually sweet voice turned afraid. "Gather all the Guards of every Entry! Interrogate all the Hut Leaders, ask them who were out earlier. Search all the Quarters."

Old Unyo kept on nodding. He couldn't speak anymore.

"Go now, Unyo. We need to find the medallion before it is used to...." Maria Makiling paused.

"To what?" Old Unyo's voice where shaking so badly.

"Get Lady Lisa, the Library Director. Tell her I wanted her in my office."

"Any else, Governor?"

Maria Makiling sighed. "Be strong." And she gave Old Unyo a gaze that the old Sigbin never saw for a long time, the gaze she had during the Flaming War of Bicol Region and the 1942 Divine War during the World War II, the look of fear for a possible world destruction.
